I also had the impression that the courts look like stock images. Do you know this for certain, or is that your opinion?UtterFool wrote:Should we go ahead and put this in the Kickstarter scams list now or wait and see if it funds?
I kind of wish the courts had been the first image. I was scrolling down thinking "this is kind of a cool deck" then BAM stock Asian images with a photoshop etch effect.
Exactly.th4mo wrote:In any case, stock images do not automatically equal a "scam".
I'm not that thrilled by this deck to begin with and won't back it anyway, but the stock images to me are just a tad boring, not necessarily a glaring red flag.
That remains to be seen. This person is obviously not a native English-speaking person, and as such (I'm Danish), he does rather well. The Chinese symbolism looks great, unfortunately I'm not the person to interpret it.th4mo wrote:In any case, stock images do not automatically equal a "scam".

I did the same, and we'll all watch to see if it smells funny(er) before the clock runs out and we're locked down. Pricing is reasonable, and it doesn't have the fishy smell some projects have had lately, it's a "wait and see" for me for now. I think we've all grown to have a jaundiced eye with the scams of late.Casual Pixels wrote:Here, I do like the sunken effect with the pips and I've grabbed a two deck early bird while I decide whether or not that's enough of a reason to go in on this. I sincerely hope you're not the creator of this deck, or are even affiliated with him in any way.Bexidom wrote:To all the muppets on here who said "when we say a project won't get it funded it wont" well look what got funded hahahahahahahaha ! in your face! i have been waiting all month to say that! All the other bicycle card projects on kickstarter are in it for the money but it you took the time to see what yuk wah is all about he is doing it for the backers not for money! alot of people have said it! Shows how you shouldnt judge a book by its cover!
Criticism is everywhere. If an artist cant handle it, perhaps they shouldn't make their work public.Bexidom wrote:I feel for this project cuz you guys knocked my kickstarter project down twice and when you started doing it to Yuk Wah i felt like i had to say something!
Putting words on a website doesn't do much destruction, especially not in a forum. McSpazzy said it best:Bexidom wrote:Yes Agreed, but why put it so far down? just a person trying to share something with the world is a good thing right? so why try to destroy it so much as you guys do ?
As an artist I would recommend you try to find some way of dealing with criticism. I'm not going to pretend I know how it feels to have one's creative work be put down by random people, but not being able to deal with bad reviews is just bad for business. Either try to distance yourself from it and realize that the opinions of a few does not make a big difference, or take it out on something that doesn't do any harm like hitting a punch bag or something. Then after you've dealt with it you can reply in a calm and objective matter and try to get as much constructive feedback as you can.McSpazzy wrote:A deck that succeeds will succeed on its own merits, not because of the thumbs up or down a few people give it on a forum.
You'll find a mixed bag here. Some decks do get criticized badly, other decks the members are split on, while others get pure excitement all the way around. Some deck creators have taken the criticism here and vastly improved their product or at the very least tweaked their deck for the better, so criticism does serve a purpose. I can tell you part of the fun being on UC is communicating with deck creators during the course of their design, often before it even gets to KS, and watch it achieve fruition. You feel like you have skin in the game, and if you can run this gauntlet you've probably done a damn good job, lol.Bexidom wrote:Yes Agreed, but why put it so far down? just a person trying to share something with the world is a good thing right? so why try to destroy it so much as you guys do ?
