NgNash - I like your Jokers, but the index "JOKERlK" also need to be on the bottom right of the card. If you keep the "JOK" red on Joker with the red cape and keep "JOKERlK" black on the other Joker, it would look a lot better plus the Jokers would be playable in a game of cards. Think about it...

This one is gonna go down to the wire, with the sheer number of poto fans, i wouldnt be surprised if this deck gets a huge spike at the end.

to be honest, we did count mostly on poto fans (phans) but I had an idea few months back for the deck with unique theme, just for you guys :) I'll try to carry out that one in more proper way... but in several months maybe (focus Nash on current campaign! you still have two days to go....)

NgNash - Perfect. Your Jokers are 100% done. The Jokers are different and can be distinguished far and near...

@nd look. So, I was checking to see if I wanted a couple of decks. It seems your plate is full. YOu have 2 other Kickstarters pending. An art book and a program to make playing cards to give out. You mentioned Liberty Playing Cards or LPC. Can't say LPCC. ;) I would like to get a deck from them. It's been awhile and I would like to see if anything has changed. Only problem is, they are not even on the radar with USPCC,LPCC,EPCC, and MPC. Now you mentioned Temilov and it's local and doing gold gilding on the edges. Now, if you were UUPC or Uusi. and said you were doing this, I would get a deck. These people are making physical art. Why is Jackson's name being throw around here so much? :nostar: :nostar: :ucstar:

Well, next time I'll try with UUPC or Uusi :) Right now, 700 decks with golden edges... tough call! Biggest problem is low number of decks and yet if we try with 1000-2000 decks.... where to find all those backers :D

We are at 90% with 33 hours to go! what a race! We need like 13-15 backers to reach goal - very tight call. But I'm learning, I'm learning.... ^^

Or different strokes for different folks. Just cause it doesn't appeal to you, jerichoholic, doesn't mean the same for everyone else.

The Phantom of the Opera Deck now on Etsy

Unread post by NgNash »

Hi guys, it's been awhile.

After a successful campaign and happy backers - The Phantom Deck is finally available on Etsy Shop.
The Phantom of the Opera Playing Cards are limited batch of 666 decks, now left with around 150:

Image

Cards have gold edges, black core and special texture to feel nicely under your fingers :)

Image
Image

All cards come with beveled-tuck box, "gold" sealing sticker and stamped certificate with unique deck number on it:

We introduced this deck with additional black box with golden logo, so now you can choose between "regular" deck or deck with this box:

Image

Here are some comments from kickstarter:
https://www.kickstarter.com/projects/iluzijastudio/the-phantom-of-the-opera-playing-cards-deck/comments

And to promote them on Etsy shop, we have created coupon code POTO20 (for 20% off) valid till the end of May and put special price for double deck in options:
https://www.etsy.com/listing/259382536/the-phantom-of-the-opera-playing-cards

Although this is our first deck - I'm really happy with final product and thankful for support so far. We're having few ideas for future decks, but all in good time. Idea is to create special decks and to be proud of them.

This was the Kickstarter for it:

I didn't back it so I'm not sure if they ever named the printer (other than saying it's not USPCC).

Hi folks,

I know that this isn't what a card collector prefers, but it is not American or known to you printing companies (such as USPCC, MPC) as we are not in US nor EU. Costs for creating decks with these companies, including import, customs, tax etc... were far too great for batch of 700 decks. Plus, this deck was important to us and we wished for features such as golden edged cards, "air cushion" texture, additional boxes etc. We did sent inquires to many playing cards printing companies and non were able to give us proper offers. So, deck was printed in Serbia by checked local companies (yes, plural) as I knew quality and possibilities of these (worked with them before on different projects). I found a different way how to make deck that I've imagined :)

While it seems that collectors only care for decks printed by the big companies, there are many out there, like myself, who could care less about where a deck is printed and collect because they enjoy the art. You believed in the deck and wanted to share it with others and did what you had to do to get it printed. I hope these do well for you.

I am lucky enough to own one of these decks from the Kickstarter and would have no hesitation recommending them to anyone considering a purchase. I also had a great experience delivery, packaging and communication wise with the creators.

Still bugs me that when I originally backed this, there was some problems with my card and my pledge didn't make it in the end. Luckily I'll get one from Sherman as this deck is really great looking! I also want to own decks from as many different printers as possible so using an "unknown" printer is great in my books, though I don't think that all here agree on that :D

I can't wait to have this, most likely somewhere in August.

NgNash - Tell us which printer printed these. At least they can get out on the radar. Of course, ppl will look them up and pretty much bash them. Who knows maybe ppl might like them. MPC was known for just getting a demo deck done. Now ppl know they are pretty good in quality and are economical in batches of 500 or less...

Finally got this. Great design but everyone already knew that.

If I remember correctly these were printed in Serbia (?). Unknown Serbian printer and a gilded deck, I thought that these were going to be crap in quality. They really are not. They don't fan perfectly straight out of the box, but if anyone has a gilded deck that does that, please show me that and the tomb of Gengis Khan too while you are at it. The stock on this deck is quite nice! And the clumps in my one handed fans are only minor ones, less than 1 cm.

If you are doing another deck (And please do! The Hunchback of Notre Dam please?) I don't think that using the same printer is a mistake.

Crap, Now I have to remember that there might be a good printer in Serbia. I still have to remember there is a good printer in Taiwan. Nobody has pictures or videos of how the cards are made. Currently, LPCC and EPCC get their decks made from them. MPC was known for a good demo deck. Now, they are on the radar...
