Considering the mystery and intrigue, along with Lotrek's expectation no images are shared, I am going to assume this will be at least on-par with those amazing decks while being something we have never seen from Lotrek. I am fully expecting to feel things in my potty place when these are delivered.

I purchase on my liking the design and features not on hype and hope. At least with mystery deck sales, you know the pool of decks you'll be recieving from and I don't do mystery decks sales.

May be missing out on something great. May get a $100 deck that is just ok. Could end up being $100 beer coaster. These will most likely be gone in minutes but I won't be one of those pounding away at the refresh and checkout buttons.

Lotrek is a great innovator in ways but even Lotrek is going to have a hard time getting those prices from me. I am happy with getting reasonably priced decks like Chronos players and The Entertainer.

From what I've read Lotrek always delivers so I'm fine with jumping off a cliff.

True. He does always deliver a product. And generally of great quality. Many people love his designs. Personally, I am hit or miss on his designs. I am not going to buy a deck based on how much other people like all of his other decks.

Any way you slice it, his decks are generally expensive regardless of the reasons why they are expensive. They may be technically genius but if you don't like the design, what does it matter?

Gio is my favorite designer. Even if he were to put out a deck that was $80+ and the only thing to see before purchasing was a
picture of one word, I wouldn't be buying.

That's just me. It seems there is no shortage of people that will pay high prices for anything attached to certain brands, logos, designers, etc. Even sight unseen. This isn't exclusive to playing cards.

I completely agree with what you're saying I usually don't let myself get sucked into the hype but unfortunately in moments like this I do become a hype beast. Other than me buying for the, how do you say it? novelty? specialty? rarity? whatever the word is, I think its a cool and fun concept.

I may just be too bright-eyed and bushy tailed for my own good tho. I guess with Lotrek's Crypt project I'll buying the suspense and excitement more than anything. I don't know it's just one of the moments that a creator seems to be bringing something fun and different to the table. I like buying thing I've seen first to avoid disappointment.

I think I'm like this for Lotrek mainly because they have the trust of the UC community.

The fun and difference to other marketing strategies is beyond me. I'm mostly on STL's side here. The difference will be that I'm going to buy it for two reasons; Lotrék's body of work speaks for him and the second reason is that since I live in Europe, it is not hard for me to go to Greece if he underdelivers... I'm thinking about a Προμηθεύς like punishment  .

Hehe, this thread gets more and more amusing. What I like most is the hesitant ones.
Jesus Christ, I've managed to talk CapraAegagrus into buying the deck! Are you serious?

No, and that should be left a mystery as well until payment is due...!

Let it be a shocker just as the deck will. Love the entire idea behind this release!

I'm going to cry... I just realized that I wont be able to get this deck since I will be at work when this drops and having experienced the last drop I won't be able to get one... Could release be delayed by a day? Not counting on it, I'm just heartbroken right now.

It always depends. Not every drop is the same. Oath Standard was a craze since a) for a Lotrék deck with foil it wasn't a steep price and b) there were/are only 90 of the GoG. Chronos Player's and Silk for example were relatively long available after their drop.

That's on a sunday, it'll give people some time to buy unless you're at work or there's a limited amount.

I think the court cards will have a dead look to them....
"When I like something, I buy. No matter who did it, how many were printed or how many (re)colors exist.

When I don't like something, I pass. No matter who did it, how many were printed or how many (re)colors exist."

Of course the below 100 print run fecks go within a minute. But the above 300 decks with a larger price tag tend to last luckily a bit longer.

Lotrek, are you planning for a public release and advertising for this? At the moment it seems so, but what worries me is that with the publicity given at the moment, the deck would go out like less than two minutes... Who is your target audience then? Will you be advertising this continuously prior to release? If so, doesn't that go against the "CRYPT"/secret theme?

What I see is a huge build-up of demand before the launch, but with just 300 of these, I'm pretty sure a lot of serious collectors here will miss out and be disappointed after selling out. I'm not saying that UC members should have the privilege of the details about the time/date of the launch, but at least we are the only one at the moment who knows about the theme you're playing with. Others out there without the current knowledge and expectation would just jump instantly on the hype train, knowing that Oath decks sell for a fortune in the aftermarket. In this case, you'll get a bunch of folks with no clue what this deck is about but still frantically purchasing this while people who DO KNOW will be reduced of chances to get one.

I would expect if it's "mystery" you're playing with, then keep the advertisement as discreet as possible and let the true enthusiasts figure the mystery out. Or else, it's truly just hype.... (a plea from someone who missed the G.o.G. by 1.5 minutes after launch)

Come on guys, regarding the release time I was obviously kidding! Is it possible to have undetermined release time? I just haven't decided yet. It's more than 20 days from today!

Release day and release time will be public and announced everywhere. Everything else will be a secret. Entering a crypt is no joke...

I wasn't worried that it would be a secret launch hour haha  , that's atrocious if someone really did that and I believe you wouldn't!

This is reassuring on the other hand, I guess... Hopefully, the plan works out and for those who knows nothing about the deck would hesitate enough for the ones who's anticipated to grab one in time... I'm taking this as a social experiment :geek:
