For the record - Green Day is probably the worst band in music history. IIRC, they consider themselves modern punk rock. Is 70's and 80's punk rock any good? Doubt it. Not worth a try IMO.

That can't be, because I love(d) Transformers.
via WikipediaSteampunk is a subgenre of science fiction or science fantasy that incorporates technology and aesthetic designs inspired by 19th-century industrial steam-powered machinery... are often set in an alternative history of the 19th century's British Victorian era or American "Wild West", in a future during which steam power has maintained mainstream usage, or in a fantasy world that similarly employs steam power.
That's, like, the worst definition of anything I've ever read. How/why are people into this..?Decknowledgy wrote:TwoPiece wrote: So steam punk is... Transformers..?

In short, it's having fun with the aesthetical fantasies of integrating steam powered mechanics into daily life, sometimes even body parts.
So yeah, if Shia LaBeouf ended up having a car wreck in Bumblebee, there you have it: STEAMPUNKed.

Seriously? I don't think these are that bad. I kinda like them actually, not enough that I would back it but these aren't awful by any means.TwoPiece wrote:One of the easiest passes of all-time.

There is some exploration of the lifting "punk" is doing in compounds like steampunk, cyberpunk, etc. here, but the upshot is that literary "punk" genres tend to focus on the lower-class, scrappy outsiders living on the margins of society - much the same people who developed and popularized punk music, hence the analogy. (You sometimes see the same grimy, earthy sensibility gestured at with terms like "low fantasy," as contrasted with the "high fantasy" of elves and magical kingdoms.)TwoPiece wrote:That's, like, the worst definition of anything I've ever read. New trend: Dildo Punk
Definition: A science fiction genre of an alternate universe where thrusting your hips with a cod piece or dildo creates energy to power anything that requires a fuel source on Earth-616.
Alternate definition: That little punk that runs around at night while all the grandparents are asleep and whacks their houses with a dildo (probably because he's started smoking rocks, or PCP, OR MAYBE EVEN THE DEVIL'S LETTUCE, etc).

I just can't get over how weird and inconsistent those renderings are. That overlay effect or whatever it is, some have unrounded corners, etc.

I now know that these cards are "awful" and "gay". How insightful.
And that punk rock was just "mostly trash" (which is kind of stating the obvious - the clue is in the name, and it was deliberately so).
In what way a deck of cards can have a sexual preference escapes me though... anyone want to jump on that particular grenade for me ?

Can't say I disagree about the first 3 points, and I would even add that the courts are underwhelming - somehow LESS impressive than the other cards. Some (more) appropriate criticisms:
- Really boring tuck.
- 1-way back design.
- Lack of color.
- Is that a f^&*ing bird..?
Can anyone enlighten a poor noob as to what this is about ? What should I be seeing here ? Any and all tutorials, 101's or masterclasses welcome, no matter how condescending. Genuinely... please school me !I just can't get over how weird and inconsistent those renderings are. That overlay effect or whatever it is, some have unrounded corners, etc.
I just meant how the digital renderings of the cards look, visually. When you want to fund a deck that hasn't been printed yet, you have to digitally "render" them, or draw them, or make some kind of visual representation of how the finished product will (hopefully) look like. I've seen a lot of these done badly, unrounded corners for example are a classic little mistake. But I've never seen this before, where some of them look like a smaller card on top of a larger, completely white card.ALR wrote:I just can't get over how weird and inconsistent those renderings are.
