omg, I sometimes just can't with reddit... I posted about nominations being open on reddit at the start of December when it was opened here and than again like 3 weeks later when we had pretty much most of the categories filled with noms - which, IIRC, would attest that they didn't include a single one from even one redditor that made the small jump over here to participate even though nominations were open to literally anyone and everyone and had no restrictions whatsoever other than meeting the qualifying criteria for eligibility as determined by a.) its release - 2018 - and b.) the category it was being nominated for; ie, deck of first-time deck designer for 'Best Rookie" category

Hell, I even updated the thread & IG with super last-minute noms all the way up until the day before voting opened - that's a window of 7 solid weeks in which nominations could have potentially been submitted - if anyone's unhappy about not seeing their decks nominated, that's totally on them because the opportunity was most certainly available & open, even to designers & producers of their own decks to nom for themselves! So I honestly see no right nor reason in for anyone to be bitter.

Sure, I might not be much into cardistry or magic and can't really suggest nominations for decks that would fit well in either of those particular categories, but that shouldn't matter because the DOTYs are open to everyone, including those that are and can; it's about everyone coming together for some fun to celebrate the hobby regardless of their specific interest in playing cards - not to divide the community by them - and that's why we recognize so many different types of decks as shown in the number of categories we have & invite everyone to join in and participate. Actually, I'd love to see more representation from these groups here at UC to bring more diverse opinions and ideas to discussions - literally everyone has a seat available to them at the table and we welcome them with open arms, even if we may all not agree or see eye to eye on everything.

Btw, if that dude was so into cardistry and involved in the community, he'd also know that A1 dots had been released and made available to the public at the very end of 2017 in late December so that deck wouldn't have even qualified for eligibility in this year's 2018 DOTYs even if it had been nominated, which it obviously wasn't :?

I honestly didn't think my eyes could roll back into my skull any further or faster than they did reading that redditor's comments...   lol

Also, thanks Sunish for sharing! As always, you're the best!

I still have yet to also promote on Reddit but will try to find some time in between counting up everyone's votes and creating promotional content for IG to make rounds eventually to all the social media platforms to further spread the word of the DOTYs - and everyone else here could also help in showing their support of UC by doing so as well - it may seem trivial and easy enough but it would be of tremendous help & greatly appreciated. So, please share however you can - thanks in advance :)

Also, @ZurStelle & @ froyo - nice to see some Germans here and glad to see you were brought by our wonderful GentlemanWake! Willkommen!

We also got sponsorship this year by spielkartenshop.de that is donating some great decks to our prize pool for the giveaway contest which is awesome.

I'm actually American myself but living in Germany so it's great to see more card enthusiasts somewhat nearby lol. Last year, the International Playing Card Society held their annual conference in Stuttgart and that was cool to meet other collectors from all over and some producers too.

Haven't quite reached the triple digit mark yet so the odds of you being randomly drawn for our prize giveaway contest are very good - but y'all gotta be in it to win it! So be sure to submit your votes today! 20 very lucky participating voters will be randomly drawn and win selection from our mega prize giveaway contest. Just check out all the awesome prize bundles that are up for grabs here, all generously donated directly by our very own amazing members and designers/producers of the UC fam :ugdance:

More importantly, do we have enough voters yet to get Montenzi to cough up his custom Green Neo:Wave as prizes? Inquiring minds want to know! :ugdance: That'll add 2 more prizes into the prize pool and give you a well-deserved reward for your efforts. :)
Just 88 votes and I'll print a green Neo:WAVE deck at MPC (green background vs. blue) with the original back (green waves). For you and for two other voters. Each of you will get two decks. Custom text "made for ..." on any card. Only 7 will be made (one for me ) OR I can send Red Tiki and Black or White Tiki (if unlocked).

We just rolled over halfway mark towards the 88 goal lmao - but, there's still a few votes missing from some of the UC fam - Y'ALL KNOW WHO YOU ARE! But no worries; I've promised myself not to start obnoxiously and incessantly pestering y'all until next week... :ugthink:

Oh but I will  have no doubts about that lol - So get your votes in now to save yourself from unrelenting peer pressure and the punishment of great annoyance lmao

One can hope it does have a real Maduro cigars, although give the boxes size, they would be eenie weenie sized cigars. I haven’t smoked a cigar in a long time, but the smell comes to me vividly in my mind. One shouldn’t be too bad would it?

While it would be super cool for it to have a teeny weeny cigar I would imagine the legalities of including one would be a nightmare :). We can all dream though :)

Hello all. I just wanted to echo streamphotog's comment. I also started collecting cards a few months ago. And I've been reading through this forum as a guest for awhile. I definitely wanted to sign up and participate in the DOTY awards.

In order not to affect those that have not scored or to bias the results, we don't get to know until after the voting is completed. :D

Hi y'all,

So glad to see so many enthused new members joining us here to participate in our DOTYs - that's awesome and we're all happy to have you! We'd love to learn more about you and your interests in the hobby, so please do tell us about yourselves in our 'Introduce Yourself' Section. :D

yes, Bradius is absolutely right; there are still quite a few folks here that haven't casted their votes yet and we're really trying to keep it as unbiased as possible - I don't want to give away any details that may sway how others may votes; granted, there are a few obvious fan favs leading in particular categories, but overall, it'll def be a close vote.

For those that haven't submitted votes yet, remember; voting officially closes on February 20th - just a little more than 2 weeks away - and once it closes, it'll give us about a week to tabulate any/all last-minute votes, double & triple check for accuracy and finalize placement and make some spiffy graphics for the 'gram so we can officially announce winners here and elsewhere on March 1st as well as do our random drawing for the mega prize giveaway - At least that's the plan :D

Today I counted up the total number of participants and as of right now, we still haven't reached triple digits - when we do, I'll be sure to announce it in this thread - but I'm confident that we will as there are still a few weeks to go and quite a few of our regulars around here that still have yet to submit their votes.

So, if you haven't participated yet, no worries - you still have time to submit your votes until Feb. 20 - buuuuutttt, it'd be cool if you got 'em in sooner rather than later because I'd prefer not to be swamped in the last days leading up to the closing date...

so I made a gif/vid of the nom'd decks for the 'gram - question is, does it look as though the decks are moving around the frame and if so, in which direction? :ugthink: lol

Also, this is a reminder from your friendly neighborhood PipChick to please submit your votes lol :ugthink: :D

I can adjust my mind to see it move in either direction, but my mind without me trying to change direction, sees the decks move clockwise.
