Calling them Olive Fontaines would've been more fitting.

I am really mystified at the popularity of these. Are they that amazing for cardists? I admit I always buy a couple of decks when they release but I can't believe it is already selling at up to $100 on ebay. I was looking at the sales list last night and it's fetching astounding amounts. A friend suggested I put up my double at very high prices to see if it would sell. I did but not as high as some of those other prices and it sold in hours. What a following this series has

I think this is all about Zach Mueller's popularity among the cardistry community. He is some kind of cardistry pop-star, so this is probably more about the image than the cards themself. For many it seems to be some kind of status symbol to own a deck of Fontaine cards.

Yeah, I get the feeling that he's the Justin Bieber (cue high-pitched screams) of the cardistry community.

Added to Portfolio..

So yeah, i got my Green Fontaines.

Somehow i'm fascinated about fontaines... not the cards itself but the whole thing around it.
So there is guy who made itself a name by making videos for theory11 and is known by the cardistry community.
Then he makes a simple design and prints his first deck. They sold out after few weeks so he does the same deck in another color and again and again....
Many call these lazy as the deck has standard courts and a back design that changes color every year.

But i think this way:
Stockholm17 wrote: USPCC is relatively cheap if you print "standard". Standard means no features what-so-ever. Their paper, their standard tuckbox, no fancy things, no embossing, no foil, no extra colors, no custom seal, just a plain deck.
A deck as Fontaine or Virts costs probably around $2.5/pc for 2500 units, down to $2/pc (or less) for 5000 or more.
original quote from here: viewtopic.php?f=8&t=9625&start=40#p116596" onclick="window.open(this.href);return false;" onclick="window.open(this.href);return false;

So you can print a fontaine deck for 2$ or less and sell them for 15$. Profit 13 $ per deck.
I guess he sells like 4500 decks or more and keeps some for himself.
That means 4500 decks * 13 $ = 58.500$. Of course he has to pay the shipment from USPCC to the fulfillment center and the fulfillment center itself.
But i guess that doesn't cost that much.. so i think he is still making more then 50.000$

Wouldn't you do the same thing as long as this works for a few minutes work to change the color and sign contracts to USPCC and fulfillment center when you get that much money out of it ?

so which one is next ?

Not to mention the after-market value on these puppies is through the roof. I could put my non-existent kids through college if I had a few bricks of red and blue. I don't own any Fontaine's and I don't ever plan to. But I say good for this guy!

Yep, you're exactly right, Azid. We can moan all we want, but there's no denying that the demand is there. And anyone in his position would capitalize on that, yours truly included

For me, I don't like the Fontaine decks because they have almost zero creativity. But if Zach can sell them like hotcakes, then I don't begrudge him trying to make a few bucks at the expense of his fanboys. My issue is more with Zack himself, I find him to be an immature, annoying little turd and its unfortunate that he's one of the higher profile cardists/magicians. I mean, there's a reason T11 ran him out of town without so much as a farewell video. . .

I agree Sinjin. I also think Zach is missing the boat with these. They sold out very quickly which means he didn't produce enough and which also means he is losing money. Many people missed out unnecessarily though some of that must be due to greedy resellers buying them by the brickload to resell at $100 each!
