Mantecore Playing Cards LIVE on IndieGoGo

Hey guys, Edo Huang and myself have designed a deck called Mantecore as a tribute to Siegfried and Roy's tiger as well as a modern alternative to the standard Bicycle deck.
This deck would feature custom backs, aces, jokers, pips as well as a younger, simplified and borderless courts.
Here are some pictures and we are looking at launching a campaign sometime in the middle of the year. We would be using Legends Playing Cards Company for fulfilment and printing.
More pictures would be revealed in the coming weeks. Follow my instagram instagram.com/siegismyname as well as instagram.com/edohuang for more updates about the deck.
Cheers
Ben

Been following the photos and teases via IG - super excited about this! I assume there will be two different color back designs, red and white plus white and black with a bit of blue...?

Looks real nice but I think you should add pips to the court cards as right now you have a big white space that looks like it needs something to fill it.

That white and blue one was printed on a large paper. But we would surely consider printing that via a stretch goal or something.

You have a sharp eye my friend. That was actually a mock up shot done with a computer and we have rectified that. The actual ones now have a pip in that white space.

That's good to know! I remember some of Edo's other decks, like Sky Island, had that issue, so it's nice to see something filling the space.

Back is fine. It's a simple duel mirror image, but your courts don't have suit indicators. Lately, it doesn't matter if they are on the right or left. Standard is on the left side next to the indices. Break the rules, but we need the suit indictor to distinguish the card at a distance.

Victor - I'm always 6 steps behind you. Good to know. Thank-you. Keep up the good work, but try not to piss anyone off.

Here is a picture of an updated Queen of Clubs and where we got inspiration from. Hope it is clearer now.

Yes! Indeed you are right. We are still doing some final touches on the cards as well as planning to film some stuff so that we at least have some photos to show during the campaign. How are you guys liking them so far?

I'm in! I love the tiger's blue eyes but I would have thought the back color would match? Not that there's anything wrong with the red back color, just curious. Also, I'm sure this will be fixed (and I'm surprised sprouts didn't point this out) but the AoH and QoC corner indices seem to be off- in the coffee picture the upper "A" appears much closer to the border than the lower one.

Thanks for the love Vasta41. I don't quite get what you are saying about the back color matching though. Matching the red pips?
The indices are indeed off centre. and you can be 100% sure it WILL be fixed with the guys at LPCC.
Cheers,
Ben

No, matching the tiger's blue eyes.

Not that I mind tigers (I love them), but with the deck being called "Mantecore" I would have expected a lion (
Manticore).
I think the blue eyes contrasting the back design color works, if it matched it would have been too monochrome IMO.

/agree 100% - the tiger is nice, but I keep thinking "Manticore"?

uhm...
Apparently this Mantecore is the name of a real white tiger:
http://edition.cnn.com/2014/03/26/showb ... roy-tiger/" onclick="window.open(this.href);return false;
The Manticore is a Persian mythological figure: It has the body of a red lion, a human head with three rows of sharp teeth (like a shark), sometimes bat-like wings, and a trumpet-like voice. (wiki-copy-paste)
I like the deck, did not back it yet since the shipping costs more than the deck itself. Plus, the rewards are messy and confusing (imho) and made me leave the page. Very nice design! I might find it later somewhere or trade it.

You made my heart skip a beat for a moment there. But yeah. Hopefully it will launch in the middle of the year if all goes well
Also, thank you for the compliments of the design.

Spot on. Hence we decided to name it Mantecore instead of Manticore to distinguish between the two.

Ah, I thought it was just an alternative spelling. Thanks for clearing that up
