I thought I'd start a thread for series that have not (to date) been finished. These aren't undelivered projects, just projects that had additional releases planned which never materialized.
The first deck, Inferno, commemorated the 700th anniversary of Dante Alighieri's work. Purgatorio and Paradiso were planned to follow it, with cards from all three decks forming a dodecaptych.
If only the originally planned diptych jokers had been produced (bottom center of attached image), this deck would feel complete on its own. Unfortunately, the two additional cards (top left) are clearly meant to be part of a larger layout.
I don't blame the creator for being ambitious. The landscape for collectable cards has definitely changed since Inferno shipped in 2022.
Absolutely no judgement implied. I know that geopolitical factors are preventing the parties from working together at this time. I care more about an end to war than I care about playing cards.

In a response to a comment on the campaign, Epprecht says the future decks are still planned. He recently completed an academic degree and is getting back to work on a project that was in line ahead of Purgatorio.
Would Orbit be suitable here? I know there are more than the original 12 decks if you're counting collabs and one offs, but the last in the line of Orbit decks I believe was 8 correct?

I am so looking forward to this series completing. Great thread, felicity.
Defunct seems to be a larger umbrella than what is being shared, which are incomplete series. Those can definitely hurt the soul more.

This isn't something I collect, so anyone who has information on an unfinished series is welcome to post here.

I think what I'm trying to get across are situations that are not resolved due to certain circumstances. If a creator comes out and says, officially, "This is the end, whatever I may have planned beyond this is not happening", then I don't see a place for it here. The projects I have cited are in a sort of limbo, conceived but not (yet) put into production.

Were there more promised?
This thread is for decks 'in limbo'
Otherwise all completed/old series could be considered defunct

Felicity, have you considered editing the thread to 'Series in Limbo'

Starting with V5, there was a flap inside the bottom of the tuckbox that when flipped up said 5 of 12. This went on for awhile with it in many of his decks. V7 had 7 of 12, V7.5 had 7.5 of 12. CC V1 had 7.75 of 12. The most recent deck to have this would be the 2021 Christmas Edition which was 8.75 of 12. From what I had read it was promised to have 12 editions of the main series, not counting the parallels, Christmas editions, or Cardistry Con editions. In all though, Orbit has I think 27 different editions if you count collabs and all decks released. Last I heard the company was a one man show in terms of production/distribution.
I think it was on some random reddit thread. That or a Chris Ramsay review video. Orbit is one of if not my most favorite collections I have. It would be cool to see how the series would've ended up.
Has it been confirmed the series is over? My understanding is the main Orbit line involves a high print run so it would make sense to spread out releases over time.

Tomorrow is your 5 year anniversary - you have to get your posts up to 10 for the occasion

USPCC started what was announced to be a 10-deck series, something along the lines of "Bicycle Limited." They released the first two, and then completely revised their business model and that was the end of that. I don't have photos handy, but next time I stumble upon them, I'll grab a pic.
