Back design looks very nice but it ends unfortunately there for me. Arrco courts might be the only court set that lets me forget how much I despise standard Bicycle courts.

Mantis Playing Cards (New Marked Deck)

Unread post by pavelklotz »

Hello everyone!

We are excited to present Mantis Playing Cards, a brand new marked deck developed by Sean Devine and designed by Manel.

They are a fully marked deck with a reader-style marking system. This is actually the first time we are producing a reader-backed deck. The cleverly designed marking system lets you identify the value of any card with a quick glance at its back. The markings are positioned near the cards’ border, making them visible in spreads.

In addition to the markings, the back features a one-way design, offering even more ways to astonish your spectators.

Pre-orders open on May 24 at 5 PM Prague time. They will be live for only seven days, until May 31. The cards are expected to ship at the end of August.

The decks are now available for SPECIAL pre-order prices. Save up to 20%!
  • One Deck - 15 EUR (retail price 18 EUR)
  • Three Decks - 40 EUR (retail price (50 EUR)
  • Six Decks - 70 EUR (retail price 90 EUR)
Every pre-order will receive a video tutorial from Sean. In it, he will go over the marking system and the one-way back design and teach EIGHT magic tricks that take advantage of the Mantis' magical features.

This is the first edition of Mantis Playing Cards. There will be 1.000 decks printed, with only 900 available for sale. The rest will be used for promotional purposes and Sean’s every day carry.

Mantis Playing Cards will be available HERE - https://www.butterflymagicstore.com/man ... ing-cards/

Let us know in the comments if you have any questions about the cards.

Thank you! Even though they will be very limited, we want to make them as affordable as possible. I am sure Sean's tutorial will be fantastic!

I'm glad you like the back design! Manel did a fantastic job. I'd just like to clarify the faces. These are not Arrcos but the 1885 Vintage Bicycle faces, redrawn by Daniel Schneider. We chose these as the best for the whole deck's aesthetics.

Will I be able to checkout other items with this pre-order? I have decks on cart that I've been holding off for the perfect timing.

Thanks for the clarification. Then it'll be Arrco and 1885 Vintage Bicycle courts which let me forget how much I despise currently used Bicycle courts πŸ˜ƒ.

I believe they mean these courts drawn by Daniel Schneider , which are based on the very first Bicycle deck released in 1885.

That modern 1885 Bicycle deck uses similar faces, although not quite the same.

Thanks manu, in that link I like the cleaner lines but prefer the black ink on the court faces used by the original
The 1885 deck I pictured have redrawn court faces but lists James Billiter as the artist

Looks like these Mantis cards use black ink, as seen in the pictures at the top of the thread :)

Yes, the court cards have standard black lines. The only difference from the classic 1885 Bicycle faces (as redrawn by Daniel Schneider) is that we used green instead of blue to match the back design.

I have not bought butterfly decks in the past but the court cards speak to me. I am always a fan of the older looking court cards. I bought a 3 pack.

Thank you so much for the support! We're happy you like them. They are very rarely used now.

Hello everyone!

Thank you to everyone who has already pre-ordered Mantis Playing Cards.

Sean wants to give back to those who support the project and pre-order the Mantis cards. So, thanks to his generosity, there are now two pre-order gifts!

We have already announced that all pre-orders will get a free hour-long tutorial with eight magic tricks.

Thanks to Sean, all pre-orders of three or more Mantis decks will also get a free electronic copy of his book Sharps & Swindles! This book contains twenty original magic tricks and six sleight-of-hand techniques. The printed version costs 35 USD.

This means that by pre-ordering three or more Mantis decks, you receive a total of 28 tricks! And we can't forget about the special 20% discount on pre-orders.

You can pre-order your decks here: https://www.butterflymagicstore.com/man ... ing-cards/
