The New Year will be defining for Joker and the Thief as a brand.
May, 2020 marks 5 years of us producing some of the finest playing cards to ever come to market.
It seemed fitting to release a limited edition deck of playing cards to commemorate our 5th birthday. The idea behind this December release is simple, we want this deck to be delivered to you by our birthday, not being launched on it.
To make this release even more special, this is the 5th, and the final, limited edition of the original Joker and the Thief deck. To be released on founder James Milaras’ birthday, the 5th of December, for the 5th birthday of Joker and the Thief. Never to be reprinted. We present Joker and the Thief: Edition 5!
Printed in the U.S.A.
Oh, and as always, $10 Early Bird Specials will be available at launch

Kickstarter launches on December 5th at 8am PST.

Am I the only one that chuckles whenever he reads this in advertising?

Wasn't red the "final" re-color for this design?
This design isn't interesting anymore. GTFO.

Well, seeing as I won a brick of the other 4 from them, I will probably get this to round out the set if it isn't too bad on price.

Too soon.
Though, I am glad they have addressed the blunder and they will hopefully prevent any further ridiculousness.

Yeaaaah, we're just sticking to cards on this one. Lesson learned.
We think of the original Joker and the Thief deck like its our own Smoke and Mirrors line. It's the design that we started with, and since we are coming up to 5 years it just feels right to finish the series on the 5th deck, and retire it. Green and copper/bronze are just colours that we are really digging right now, and we think it's easily the classiest colour of the 5. This deck is a send off.
We are focussing on new designs going forward, which was also the intention with Seafarers. And are busy at work with some fun new directions for 2020 and 2021.
We're starting out with $10 early birds on launch day for these. If you decide to stop by, thank you in advance!
Cheers guys!

It will come sealed in a water resistant and high quality polymer based enclosure.
All joking aside. I do like the original deck.

We are actually super open to suggestion for new design directions! What sort of designs would you like to see in the future?
Let us know.
Cheers

So many choices for design, but I'm no artist. However, for my tastes, you can't go too wrong with copper foils or inks!

I never mind reprints. Quite the opposite, the more, the better. I never heard people asking USPC to discontinue the rider back. But I don't like this EB thing though. On kickstarter it is something different, because one can drop his pledge for the whole time and isn't commited to the decision made, until the end of the campaign. I know, I know marketing and stuff and hype and ... . But I'm not going to pay more for a product just because I want to give myself some time to think about a purchase. Just my two cents.

As long as it's not scented. Especially like a thief.

Think about it this way, our decks retail at $15 as standard. So in actuality, Kickstarter campaigns that are running Early Bird Specials are providing an opportunity to jump in early, to pay less and adds an incentive to help support the campaign. While our early birds tend to go quickly, we always release a fair number so people have a good chance to snag a special.

Anything that isn't the same regurgitated design. Like... Seriously... Literally
anything else.

Careful J&T, it's a trap- 2pc. hates 99% of the decks posted here. So odds are he will hate
anything else you come up with.
I on the other hand would love to see a liquor-themed deck. Any liquor: beer, wine, spirits, etc. They're all good!

99%? That seems a little high...

Did you see our Seafarers playing cards recently? They're pretty sick, not in the regurgitated way though

I did. They're okay. Better than yet another re-color, that's for sure.

I love this original Joker and the Thief deck but I don't need another recolor. Seafearers does look great, I will get a deck of them at some point, hopefully soon.
Instead of this recolor, I would have much rather seen something like Joker and the Thief: Edition II, completely new artwork from the same artist but with a similar feel.

We are actually working on a new deck for 2020 that we feel could be the spiritual successor to the Joker and the Thief deck. It carries a different title of course though. We're not super fond of the sequel concept for decks, it feels as though it cheapens the original and the new one has to be bigger and better than the first. We'd rather let the original design and its variations standout on their own within our line up, and then continue to add more original products to the family.

NOW LIVE:

$16 for an EB, shipped. Too high for me. This will be the first deck of theirs I won't own.

I like it to complete the set. I think the EB price is fair for custom deck, metallic inks, matte and foiled tuck.
Oh yeah and COPPER foil! So I have to.

Almost $22, shipped. NOPE. I'll wait for some kind of sale over the next year.
