What the hell?

On the one hand, congratulations to him and his family. I wish them all of the best.

On the other hand, he said that the Pearl Tally-Ho is "the fourth and final deck in the Kings Wild Luxury Tally Ho series. ". I guess the burning question before getting truly bothered is; Is this a continuation of that series, or is this a continuation of the yellow-tucked Kings Wild Blue Tally-Hos?

I will not be getting these if they are a continuation of the former. I will likely get them if they are the latter.

Edit: That gold-looking seal render (and "Olive Edition") makes me think they're the former, but he calls this a continuation of "Premium", so that makes me think the opposite...

It doesn't matter to me if this is a continuation or not, more than likely I'm getting them.

I wonder if the hearts and diamonds will be olive with black spades and clubs. The courts would be olive and yellow.

I don't normally like when the last edition is not he last edition, but this time another edition makes perfect sense.

I really don't need to get this and probably won't, but I have no issues with it. If someone doesen't own any of the Kings Wild Tally Ho's, this would be something to get.

The yellow and blue tucked KW Tally Ho was supposed to be his "staple" deck, one that was allegedly to be lower priced and unlimited. The "Luxury" or "Premium" Tally's were all limited in the sense that they would never be printed again and each deck was dedicated to his daughters, mother, and wife. This latest deck is dedicated to his newborn, Olive, so I'm pretty certain this is a continuation of his "Luxury/Premium" series as opposed to his staple deck (which should be red if anything, not olive). I totally wouldn't put it past Jackson to renege on his promise that the Pearl Tally would be the "final" in the series. He's going back to the well to go with what works and this is an easy series for him. All he has to do is tweak the back design a little bit on his computer and change the color scheme and then "Bam!" A new deck with minimal effort, and very high profit margins with his gilded decks and super duper limited Legacy editions. I wonder what his grandmother's birthstone is?

I'm a sucker for olive anything and I don't have any Tally Ho's so I'm interested. Only consideration is that I've read some things on here in the past about Jackson being a bit on the greedy, money grubbing side and I generally don't like to support those kinds of people if I can help it.

Card designers have to eat. Just understand each designer s a human with abilities and flaws. Filter accordingly. If you still want to buy/back, go for it. I doubt the resale will come close to Scarlets. Probably will be more like Pearls. If still okay, go for it. I will at least go for a pair of regular decks. I agree though I would like to see new designs from Jackson, like Maduro was . He is so talented and can easily impress me when he cranks it up.

It reminds me of WotC and their Reserved List policies. Mox Diamond is on the list, but they made an exception for Judge Foils/Premiums, and reprinted it in 2010's FtV: Relics. Then they changed the policy to ban any and all forms of reprinting.

I just can't get on board with this. Say what you mean and mean what you say, Jackson.

There's nothing wrong with having another child and/or designing a new deck in her honor. The problem lies within the validity and integrity of one's word or promise. I've stuck up for him and his brand through a few mistakes and changes made in the past, but this crosses a line as a collector and customer.

He could say that there's "only 200 baby-diarrhea-green gilded decks" but there's not a single part of me that can take that seriously anymore.

Jackson lies. This is old news. Jackson also makes a lot of mistakes. This is also old news. I could reference those statements but it would take me too much time. Either way he's not the first deck creator to say he's done with a series and keep going. In fact he's in good company. I guess I'm not as upset because I already expect Jackson to be pulling this kind of stuff so it comes as no surprise to me. Having said that I think the Tally-Ho series is Jackson's best and since I have the Pokemon syndrome I'll have to pledge for these (gotta catch 'em all!). But I'll only be in for one regular deck since I can't afford his super limited exclusive private special mega letterpress wooden metal carat case tuck edition wrapped in gold foil and mink.

At least it'll be USPCC.

I don't mind Jackson continuing the "family" Tally-Ho theme. I wonder if Olive is a surprise child because of his "last of the series" comment.

I'm a bigger fan of the 5 original Federal 52s, and the Sherlock series, but all of the Tally-Hos he's done are home runs. I also have that Pokémon syndrome, and that leads to another problem, that Olive (the color) just doesn't fit the series. Red and gold, green and silver, black and foil, & white and pearl. They're all gorgeous contrasts. Adding baby-diarrhea-green to the 4-deck series just doesn't jive.

Oh well. My criticism isn't going to change anything, obviously, but at least I vented. Thank you, my no-cost therapists of UC.

You don't have any Tally Ho's? Or you just don't have any of Jackson's Tally's? If you don't have any Tally Ho's, period, then send me a PM.

"Greedy and money grubbing" may be a bit harsh. As has already been mentioned, there's no problem with a deck designer making money, and Jackson's talent is sufficient to support his higher prices, as the market has proven already. The bigger concerns are his attitude (especially towards UC) and his lack of moral compass when it comes to the production of his decks, the speed of fulfillment, and his business practices despite his frequent quoting of the Bible.

I don't have any Tally Hos period and I'm starting to wonder if this is a mistake on my part lol.

Yeah not the nicest choice of words but that's the general impression I've picked up on and past that I don't know much about him. I read through the thread on his Federal 52 2nd edition and a lot of the gripes in there made me a bit wary of him as a designer but obviously it's important that I form my own opinion.

You need Tally-Hos in your life. Trust us.

JR is one of the best artists in the business. I think where he has gone wrong, is incorporating additional hobbies into his money-makers, and not accurately understanding how they will impact his product or timing. The Scarlett and Emerald Legacies were done well (wood boxes), but then he introduced the Tactical metal case which had problems, then letterpress tucks for Federal 52 and Verum Verde, etc, that didn't fit too well. He charges a premium for these, and he can because his quality (used to be, at least) is top-notch and people WILL back them, but over the last 2 years or so he has approached criticism of flaws with the take-it-or-leave-it attitude.

Some people didn't like the color swap on the Texas deck, or the lack of foil on the Legal Tenders, but I am 100% happy with those final products. If you pledge for his regular or limited-to-200 decks, and not the "super limited exclusive private special mega letterpress wooden metal carat case tuck edition wrapped in gold foil and mink" versions, it's very unlikely that you'll be disappointed.

Jackson does sometimes listen to criticism. He did redesign Maduro cards to improve playability.

Olive. Yeah, he will be shoveling in Olive mashed peas a lot. And emptying full diapers with processed peas. That will be a color he will be familiar with.

If you read this Jackson, congrats.

Man I had no idea that Tally Hos are such a must have item and I'm super curious to find out why.

I totally get what you're saying about JR and that all seems like pretty fair criticism. Since I don't tend to buy super limited edition narwhal tusk encrusted decks I shouldn't have to worry about the problems that people have experienced in the past with his decks. The "take it or leave it attitude" you described is generally something I don't jive with but I suppose as an artist that's his prerogative. With that said going forward I think I'll try to keep an open mind about JR.

So Jackson is having another child. Great for him! He stated previously that each premium Tally Ho deck was a tribute to both his girls, his wife, and his mom. Is it really a bad thing that he create a new deck for a new child? What if 20 years from now he has a granddaughter? Would you be mad if he decided to do another tribute deck?

Jackson has made mistakes. He has turned his back on this forum, for good reason. He is an amazing artist and a pretty good guy. It would be nice if some people on there would leave the past in the past.

So if Jackson did not announce that the Pearl Tally-Ho was the last deck in the series, y'all wouldn't have a problem with this one?

I can understand if somebody said that 200 decks were only made and then years later, print out many more (even if the designer kept 50 decks for themselves).

To me, this situation isn't even a factor. None of the previous decks (on the tucks) indicate how many decks are in the series.

Just more sketchy-ness on top of an already novel-long list of sketchy-ness by Jackson. BTW don't forget to pick up some coffee! Because nothing quite says "Tally-Ho playing cards" like some coffee grounds.

Believe it or not, specialty roasting is really catching on here. I have a great brand from Independence, Texas. Their pecan roast is really good. Not sure if it has anything to do with Tally-Ho cards. Olive isn’t my favorite color, or anywhere close. However I want at least a regular issue if nothing but to imagine Jackson shoveling mashed peas.

From Instagram, the gilding for this deck looks copper-ish.
