Joker and the Thief Street Edition on KS 15th of June

A new edition of their original Joker and the Thief deck, called Street Edition coming to Kickstarter 20th of April.
Gray tuckbox with gloss black foil, the cards have a "minor facelift", metallic inks, USPCC printing with thin-crushed stock. They also say that they are working on a new fulfilment solution which is going to bring fairer shipping prices for everybody.
They also have a contest on instagram to win a brick of these.
As much as I like this deck, I don't think that I really need this one. If someone doesn't however own a Joker and the Thief deck, I'd recommend to get on board, designwise they are among my favorite decks. Maidens should be shipped before these launch. Didn't know how to upload pictures from instagram, so I just uploaded image links.

Didn't they say, during the White/Gold campaign, that there were only going to be the 2 colors for this design? Then they did the Blood Red, which I backed, but now this?
Fatigue, man.

Totally agree...I loved this deck when it first came out, but with all the re-colors, it’s getting boring
Easy pass

Fixed the images in the OP. Getting direct image links from instagram requires some extra digging...

I have to agree with some sentiments. While im all for a creator having their own courts that they use for each deck, i cant stand behind multiple recolors. They did say they gave the cards a minor facelift. We'll just have to wait and see.

Maybe it's silly of me but I can't get behind them promoting the campaign for a new deck when they still haven't fulfilled the last one from months ago. I get that there are often delays in production but it still irks me. Just hold off until one campaign is actually being fulfilled.

This design is the only one that sold well for J&T. Dystopia struggled to fund and it took multiple attempts. If other stuff doesn't work for you, then go back to the well and pump out re-colors of the stuff that did work. . .until that finally stops working as well.
When people do re-colors, it seems like you get the standard red and blue variants, and then there seems to always be the black version and the gold-on-white version. Basically the T11 model. Also boringly predictable. Fatigue indeed.

I, for one, am glad they are waiting for their previous project to begin fulfillment before launching the next.

Love the deck, but can't help be a bit bitter about shipping costs.

It's just as awful as I was expecting. Ugh. Ruining the legacy of a great design.

It's not awful, it's just the same as the previous decks and totally unnecessary. The first one was blue, the second one and actually made some changes by inversing the coloring, updating the seal and thinning the border. The third red deck was a great thing to balance the blue deck and make this a 3 deck series. Boom. Done.
What I would have LOVED to see would be Joker and The Thief II, similar feel, updated re-design. Make 3 decks. Then Joker and the Thief III, again new design, make 3 decks. Joker and the Thief IV...

We'll have to agree to disagree. I think this version is both awful and totally unnecessary.
Your idea of a "V2" would interest me. Maybe 50/50 subtle changes and big design modifications all while maintaining the "spirit" of the deck would be refreshing. Maybe make a more functional 2-way design (that would actually be AWESOME). Beyond that things can get stale pretty fast.

unfortunately, the "minor facelift" on this design isn't enough to pull me in on this edition... the design is not
awful, it's just the same as the others and that's too monotonous for my tastes. IMHO, multiple recolors without much noticeable changes to the design desensitize and numb down the emotional response a truly inspired design might have initially evoked in people, and admittedly, that's how I feel seeing this edition - completely indifferent and it begs the question whether that truly is worse than outright feelings of dislike or even hate?
Either way, this edition is disappointing and I agree with twopiece; at this point, the design
is stale.

Hey guys,
Thanks for posting this thread and notifying everybody about the release of Street Edition.
We're doing awesomely! Sitting at just under 90% funding is incredible and a testament to our kickstarter family and the loyal support we've gained over the years. Thank you for your support!
We designed the original Joker and the Thief decks to be timeless - we make some of the best decks on the market, hands down. Stale isn't really our thing.

Tell that to Fontaine
New designs are in the works, so keep an eye out for those. Hopefully they'll be more your speed.

Well, the difference between you and Fontaine, is that the Joker and the Thief theme of decks has 3 great iterations (Blue, Gold, and Red). Fontaine has 0 good decks.

Keep it up, folks! I think you are slowly, but surely, wearing him down.

If it stands alone, and is in good taste*, then I can dig it.
If you have 5 puns in 1 post then you've failed me.
*In this case, his pun was related specifically to a release of a deck, which is very nice.
