It will be 7am here. Bit unpleasant for Saturday morning but the beast must be fed, right?

I expected it going faster. After 24h, still 12 available. But I at least must be nice to my wallet and pass on this one.

Question about Valley Forge: are the different versions (white, blue, red) pretty much just recolors of the card backs and tucks? I found a decent deal on the gilded red and I'm curious if the blue Ltd version is essentially the same. Thanks, homies!

If you mean the decks from the Valley Forge Red, White and Blue set - They are the same cards with different color gilding and different color tucks. Jackson just had 75 of the Valley Forge extra decks gilded in red, white and blue (25 of each color), then put them in specially colored tucks with nice seals and signed in a three carat case. It was a nice display set. Due to Jackson relocating, we probably will not have him signing as many sets as he used to.

I won't be able to get my hands on the special set any time soon. I am more interested in the standard white and the two subscription versions, limited and gilded.

Ah okay. The Subscription gilded deck is in a red tuck with a gold strip on the cellophane. These are gilded in gold and The decks are numbered.

I just (This morning) was able to subscribe to KW Shorts, so I am brand new to the system, and apologize if this is a question asked repeatedly, but I wasn't having any luck finding the answer. Do the shorts decks get sent automatically, one for each tier you are subbed for, each month as part of the subscription? So I subbed, and now I just get decks from time to time? Or does the subscription only get me access, but I still need to purchase the decks individually each time, with the subscription only being a key to the store, but not getting me decks?

There are three versions of each monthly KWS deck made: standard (display), limited, and gilded. The subscription is the limited deck, and you can also add standard decks as part of the monthly subscription. You get charged for the subscriptions on the 1st of each month. (I don't have a gilded subscription but I imagine it's the same, if you can snag a spot on the list)

The standard decks for each month don't sell out (that I've seen), but other things get put into the members only area of the store too. Extra limited and gilded decks are often sold as artist proofs and are signed - the number available varies. Other stuff like the Valley Forge 3-deck gilded set, the Equinox reprint, etc. also appear on the members only page, either along with an announcement somewhere or just at random

So paying for the subscription only gets me access to the store, but I still have to go in and purchase each deck each month, separately and in addition to the sub cost?

No, whatever subscription you're paying for is either a limited or gilded KWS monthly deck, plus however many (optional) standard decks you add on. You'll get charged for it/them monthly.

Everything else in the members only section, though, you have to buy separately

Yes. Your subscription gets you your Subscription (Limited version - the one numbered) each month. You can also add Standard (Display) decks at a lower cost ($12) than is offered to non-subscribers ($15). You can add as many display decks as you want. They will be set up to be billed and shipped each month. If you live outside the US, KWP has also set up a quarterly shipping program to lower the cost. You can contact KWP directly on this, but new participants will start up the next quarter. If you want, and they are available, you can also subscribe for a Gilded subscription. This deck will also be billed each month and you will get it. Sometimes gilded are delayed and shipped out the following month. It just depends on how fast the gilding gets completed. Jackson is working hard to get the gilded subscription decks out in the same month, but that has to be a logistical nightmare for KWP.

As also mentioned, Subscribers get first (and often only) shot at things like extra subscription decks, Artist Proof decks, and other goodies. Some are limited to one per person, most are not.

So to summarize, a KWP Subcriber gets their subscription decks monthly on a recurring monthly bill, and access to early or exclusive offers. Lots of ways to spend/take your money! Welcome to the club.

I kept thinking that Artist Proofs would go even faster with the larger pool of subscribers, but they still take a little while. I guess the lack of funds does take its toll on us. I usually try to get an Artist Proof when I can, but it does get costly with a Regular subscription deck, a gilded subscription deck, a standard deck, an Artist Proof deck, and a gilded Artist Proof deck every month!

Yes, the flash sale tomorrow will be the two Wasteland decks and a Tigers Limited Display deck for $20 plus tax and shipping, If you are one of the first 22 purchasers you will also get a signed Crazy 8s deck (he only has 22 left, which is why it is limited),

I just received in my Verum Videre (Black) Gilded Artist Proof deck, which looks great. However, in checking my decks and my records with Kings Wild, I didn't get a Verum Videre (Black) Artist Proof (regular subscription version, but Artist Proof). Am I correct that there hasn't been an Artist Proof of the Verum Videre (Black) ungilded? Ghaah, it gets so confusing.

These are supposed to be for more everyday play instead of collecting. My understanding is they will not be expensive decks. Not sure these are really geared for collectors that don't use the cards. I think these are all going to use his new standard courts. I wouldn't get too excited if you are a collector about having to buy these.

I don’t think that’s how it works. Subscription Only = limited = demand = value. These are exactly what collectors get excited about.

If someone were making a ‘use these for poker and cribbage’ deck, I wouldn’t think they would gatekeep access to them behind a pay wall.

I’m curious to see if this sub will be a single tier for everyone and if it will limited in the amount of subs there are.

Well this puts the lie to my above comment... Jackson confirmed some Table Players details on Instagram:

There will be no sub cap, as many people can sub as they would like. Subs will be charged monthly, but the decks are only released every other month (6 decks per year)

one deck is $6 each month ($12 for a deck, every two months)
for two it is $11 each month ($22 for two decks every two months, $11 per deck)
a brick is $60 each month ($120 for 12 decks at $10 per deck)
The decks will be available on his store for $15 per deck for people who don't want to sub.

I also found out that 90%+ of his Shorts decks are printed by USPCC in small batches. I was under the impression that they were all MPC.

Jackson actually started out the Subscription program using Shuffled Ink. I am not sure if he did any with MPC. Once 2019 started he mainly used USPCC, with whom he has a fairly established relationship. His main concern was a quick turnaround as he has to churn out 12 different decks in a year. Once he expanded the number of subscribers in 2019, he felt he could print the 1100 minimum order with USPCC fairly well. He has also used EPCC for the subscription decks, but their long shipping time tends to keep him away from using them all the time. It sounds like if he is doing cold foil again it will be with EPCC, not Cartamundi.

He also mentioned his Kickstarter for Mistborn will likely be around Feb/March 2020, which will be his next Kickstarter. In Septemberish of 2020 he will be doing a LOTR Kickstarter. He mentioned there will likely be 3-4 LOTR Kickstarter campaigns.

Mistborn? 3 to 4 campaigns for Lord of the Rings? Crazy news.

After re-watching The Prestige lately, I come to the the conclusion that Jackson is actually pulling of the same trick. He isn't just one person, he is a triplet and just pretends to be one person! One works on the Shorts, the other one manages his other stuff and the third one got bored/is unchallenged helping them other two, therefore he started his own series with the table players...
