I don't mind ordering overseas but I'm going to wait until artofplay has them.

The price is much more reasonable if ordering more than one, since shipping doesn't seem to change much. I ordered three, and with shipping it was like $41 USD, I also opted for most economical shipping method.

Yeah, I ordered four to cut down on the shipping cost per deck, but then I end up buying more than I want. I wasn't going to spend enough for free shipping though. I would be fine unloading one of the decks, but I am afraid my cost plus the additional cost to ship it again would probably be not much cheaper than just buying a deck directly including shipping.

Today I got three of these decks and they look absolutely gorgeous!

One question: I got numbers "0079-81 / 1000". So, does this mean that I was too late for the decks out of "100"? Are my decks the 179th - 181th, actually?

Best regards

There were 1000 decks printed and you got 79-81, which are part of the first 100 decks of the print run. Not much else to it. :D

I am sorry guys to be a little bit confused. On Dec 7th, Paul Middleton wrote "The first 99 decks sold will be numbered 002 to 100". So, I want to make sure if these first 100 decks are numbered differently than the rest of the 1000.

No, the first decks are not numbered differently than the rest of the decks, which will be numbered 101-1000/1000. Paul was just kind enough to hold off the first 99 of the 1000 to allow customers that purchase directly from JPGames to receive them as opposed to sending them to a vendor. Hope that clarifies things. ;)

Wait, this was designed by Alvin Cheung? The same guy who walked out on backers on his last project? If you are in touch with him then you should get him to refund backers there!

I'm not going to go into what it took to finally get this deck printed, but you may have noticed that it wasn't quick. We have enough to do to run our own business without telling someone else what to do.

The artwork was done a long time ago, and the only contact I have had since is to finalise the artwork. Clearly if he still owes people money that is wrong, but he doesn't need me to tell him that. Hers not an employee of ours, so it's not my place to tell him what to do.

You may disagree with me, and that's fine - but those are the facts that can't be disputed and i've no interest in getting involved in other peoples business. If he hasn't listened or replied previously (granted that's an assumption) why would it be any different with me?

I don't even have enough hours in the day to run our own company right now..

I've received the decks today.

The mandala looks very good.

I didn't know that the Green Tycoons were marked and that the Green Keepers weren't :)

Received my decks today (Seattle, WA, USA), and a few things leap immediately to mind:

1) The tight registration that LPCC is able to master makes this design effing *awesome* for fans and the like.
2) The "Elite Finish" for this deck fans *perfectly* right out of the box.
3) The back design is *very* reminiscent of another favorite deck of mine, the Occults (produced by GW and designed by Johnny PowPow, if I recall correctly.) I don't say this as a slam; I know that different designs can evoke the same feeling even when they are not directly mimicking each other. What I'm saying is, I loved the back design of the Occults, and I love this one for the same reasons. Great looks for fans and spreads. Similar themes and color schemes. Perfect execution. Because LPCC has such better registration than USPCC, however, the results are that much tighter with this deck (at least, printing-wise.)
4) Something weird about the tuck that I noticed accidentally: the bottom is not glued, which means you can open the tuck and get at the cards without breaking the seal. (You still have to get past the cellophane wrapper to get at the tuck, however.) Again, I noticed this accidentally, and took advantage of this "feature" to avoid marring the seal. Still... there's a reason tuck cases usually glue the bottoms, and I suspect that repeated use of this tuck will eventually find that the bottom won't hold up.

While the backs are definitely siblings to the Occults, the faces are their own thing, and I really do like the faces on this deck. The courts' colors are vibrant and well-chosen. They almost look like metallic inks, they pop so well. They are a riff on the "standard" courts, and as riffs go, these are top tier.

This is a worthy addition to the Luxx line-up, and another home run for JP Games. Way to go, Paul!

Another deck that is similar stylistically is Zenith. I also am very fond of the Occults deck and feel it was a very under-rated deck. The only thing I didn't like was the name itself. The biggest problem with tuck bottoms that are tucked in instead of glued is that it can be difficult to put the cards back in the regular way from the top because the flap on the bottom keeps getting in the way. The Mandala definitely needs to be added to the Best Fanning deck category in the DoTY contest.

I can't believe I didn't notice the base wasn't glued. When I know more (haven't heard back from Lawrence yet) i'll report back.

Mandala is my personal joint favourite LUXX with Palme, it was well worth the wait :)

and yes... I thought the Occults was very underrated also, a very nice deck.

Thanks much Paul for letting us know these were available.

It doesn’t appear so. Couldn’t find them anywhere Paul previously mentioned, so I just ordered direct. Hopefully there are some semi low numbers still with JPGames.

With a scarcity of excitement on the New Deck front, I recommend hunting out some past gems if you are missing presents from the postman

It would seem that JP Games have found 4 more of this deck

https://jpgamesltd.co.uk/LUXX-Mandala-P ... ch=mandala

Here is a review by Carolyn Ravn of all people. She is right that the Courts are a bit stony faced but this is a small downside to a deck that is fantastic in every other aspect
