I try to compare a deck from a objective production cost point of view, not from a subjective design point of view.
Of course I do as well bite my tongue and pay a certain price if I like a deck design a lot. For example, for Wicked Kingdom, I personally would pay $20 + shipping because I like the design and the artist behind it a lot. It objectively wouldn't be a reasonable price though since it's a plain glossy tuck with no metallic inks or foils.
I just wanted to add the perspective that on one hand decks with the same features were priced equally in the past and that on the other hand J&T themself priced decks with the same features cheaper.

Yah, I don't either. While a fun nod, $52 shouldn't be a price tag. On the other hand, let's face it, if he is releasing this deck for say $30, then this edition of one hundred would be scooped up by 10 collectors and 90 resellers and would sit on eBay for $90-$100. This point of view in mind, I quite like it sitting in his store for the former and being able to support the creator directly if I feel like spoiling myself.

As a collector, yeah, I'm going for this one. It's a cool deck. And sure, why not? I get to support the company directly. Soon as it sells out in a few days, I would have to pay $100 on the secondary market anyways.

I doubt it will sell out that quick. Over time for sure but seeing that the gilded Dystopia are still vailable while being released months ago...
Same goes for a lot of $52 decks on his buddy's (Fulton's) website. The dairy business days are kinda over. There is sure still a thicc wallet crowd around but more and more customers start to compare - at least from my limited point of view.

As a collector - while not being that big of a deal for me - I'm afraid to get this () for $52, haha. In James' defense first timer for a J&T deck for me.

Harvonsgard, I totally get it. Forgive me if I offend me but in my opinion Fulton's tends to take a turd deck (Fulton's arcade for instance) , then gild that turd and mark it up. I think the difference is that J&T starts with a nice deck, then gilds it up, which improves what is good deck to begin with. The issue with the Dystopia gilded is that they picked the wrong gilding color for the deck, and it didn't sit well with collectors. But to your point, if this is your first deck with them, dip your toes in with the non gilded. You will be happy. If not, you will have spent less money. I do recommend the J&T v5 also, with what I think is one of the most strikingly gorgeous tucks. There are only a few available on the site if you are interested.

Indeed, ahah. Those aren't even all decks just the ones that didn't take long to find. I have everything to this date they did with USPCC except for Psychonauts and the gilded Dystopia and Wayfarers. I still can't believe James didn't went with silver (chrome) gilding for the Dystopia, too, haha. I'm glad they made it right this time. Copper and Wayfarers is . Enjoy it when you got yours.
