Because I collect playing cards.
btw, this is probably only hysterically amusing to me as it comes from a guy that keeps all his decks sealed... :ugthink:
You're damn right, sister. Not sure what's so funny about my playing card collection but I'm glad I amuse you! My sealed decks and I will laugh right back at you and all your opened decks  weirdo :P
So... the art admirer who plays with the cards vs. the playing card collector who archives all the cards... :ugthink:

All the rich people can take shelter in Australia for the next couple hundred years, because despite the gargantuan amount of evidence to the contrary, surely only the most intelligent people are wealthy so they should be the ones to continue humanity. /s
There are many sane levels of conservation and even environmentalist rhetoric, however, much of it is self inflated, over hyped bullshit. Oh, and hypocritical as the loudest of the loudmouths run around in private jets spewing their filth wasting more energy that anyone else heating and cooling their giant homes that 2 people live in for only a quarter of the year. Putting even more pollution in the air for their carpools of security and entourage. A good bit of it is just alarmist and over exaggeration.

I recycle, turn off my lights, turn off my water while brushing my teeth, etc. I teach my children to be non wasteful, don't litter. Ever seen the aftermath of one of these environmentalist rallies? Just a field of garbage. I just don't need some environmental political message in what I enjoy as a hobby.

I leave my bathroom sink running 24/7, because I get charged a flat $10/month, and one of my cats refuses to drink water that is not directly from a running sink.

I just want to add that despite all the questionable negative posts about the irony of these playing cards (and that they arent actually playable), they are still jaw-droppingly beautiful.

Oh boi, there is really no place to hide. Propaganda really needs a to be spread here aswell, right? I don‘t even have a car but I definetly going to buy one just for the sake of pissing environmentalists off if you m***ns can’t even bite your f******g tongue for once.

EDIT: This is meant towards the discussion about environmentalism, not against the deck. The artwork of the deck is nice and I enjoy it.
You want to reclaim your mind and get it out of the hands of the cultural engineers who want to turn you into a half-baked moron consuming all this trash that’s being manufactured out of the bones of a dying world.

I got my deck too, and yes, the artwork came out really really well :D I don't care one bit that these aren't really playable, it's much more of an art deck. People here just seem to hate art decks

This is surprising considering you're usually pretty reasonable. But between this dumb rant of a delusional lunatic and implying elsewhere that there's nothing wrong with capitalism (despite causing unprecedented and possibly unrecoverable inequality), I'm thinking maybe you're one of those people who are mostly fine in everyday life, but when it comes to anything that matters are an easily influenced sheep who succumbs to the fear-mongering of the wilfully ignorant and power hungry who purposely target your insecurities. Are you one of those mouth-breathers angry at a 12 year old girl right now for literally just wanting future generations to be able to live on the f****** planet? You need to sit down, shut up, and let the intelligent people deal with the important things. You need to realise that you are the one who has fallen prey to propaganda, because you clearly haven't used your head for even a second to question anything fed to your kneeling, willing mouth. Everyone is entitled to an opinion sure, but when that opinion goes against all scientific fact, common sense, and deductive reasoning, then it isn't worth shit and you should either keep it to yourself or do some reading (I'm sure there are picture books available) and change it. This is precisely why not everyone should have the power to vote.
STLBluesNut wrote:I just don't need some environmental political message in what I enjoy as a hobby.
There's nothing political about it. Just facts of life as a human being on this planet. I'm sick of this insinuation that everything is up for debate, and anything that really matters or affects us as an entire society or species is 'political'. No, it can't be dismissed like that, it's beyond politics. There are only two sides on any issue like this, the facts (correct) and the ignorance (wrong). That the facts even have to fight against or defend from the ignorance at all shows just how screwed up our species is. When the good and intelligent struggle to even form a majority it's enough to lose hope in humanity altogether. And then those who work against change and delay progress go on to reap the benefits when they eventually lose, it's f***** up.

It may surprise you because all my approaches are reasonable. Just because you don‘t get my perspective doesn‘t mean that I’m unreasonable.

There is an objective reality to things and if you wanna achieve certain things, you have to act accordingly. There are mechanics running this reality that even if humans want to overthrow them, they can’t. So the only way to change things is by studying these underlying mechanics and let them work for you. Being loud-mouthed and bossy never changed a thing. Constant virtue signalling and crying wolf doesn’t help either. Name calling like „delusional lunatic” reminds me of fascist tactics (dehumanizing people that don’t share your views and values!?). I would refrain from such things aswell, if you wanna convince someone.
It is pretty ironic to see people that claim to be so smart taking the road that leads nowhere and not even close to their proclaimed goals. Leaves me always pretty sceptic if they wanna achieve the goals or just wanna talk the talk to ease their mind.

I don’t get the part with the 12-year old!? I’m a father, therefore I might know a thing or two about how to take care of children, being angry at them is redundant and leads nowhere. You handle children with love, passion, emphaty and understanding. You’re not mad at them. Even tough they can drive you crazy at times  and it is a pretty hard task to stay calm at times.

And yah, blaiming capitalism for anything is redundant aswell. Will lead you nowhere outside of an edgy teen clique. But these are all topics for either pm’s or the general section. I love me some off-topic randomness like every other fellow, but when the world outside is mad again, it would be nice to not being constantly reminded of it in here. We did a great job so far, would be cool if we could continue to leave politics outside.

This will be my last post addressing this. If you wanna talk about gender issues/climate change/capitalism feel always free to pm me here or on reddit. Maybe we can have a group chat on reddit if some people like Justin O. wanna join the discussion. Always down for that, since I think especially we two have more in common as you might believe.

I'm not inclined to either side, but it's interesting to see how opinions sway according to whether you like the deck or not. I went back to the CC2019 Art of Play deck thread to check your comment on paper consumption again, and this was your response:
Harvonsgard wrote:
Decknowledgy wrote:There is a good reason I might not get this: the "Cards come from paper/Paper comes from trees/Card-is-try" message is messed up. I've heard that they'll be donating part of the earnings from this deck to planting trees (unverified info), but if that's true, this message is pure hypocrisy when the whole card frenzy thing in cardistry is just supporting more trees being cut down.
Not really. Biggest consumption of wood is for hygiene papers, tissues, baby diapers and other stuff. Print industry is rather small in comparison. Therefore, using a butt toilette (dunno the english word xD) instead of whipping your butt with toilet paper would have a way bigger impact than not buying playing cards. ^^

Propaganda won't sway your opinion, you say?
I'll just leave it here

When I write it, I mean it. You‘re not excluded from joining the discussion at a place where it better fits, we can address obvious misunderstandings and your pulling stuff out of context there aswell if you want.

Adonael,

When you go around spouting out things like "dumb rant of a delusional lunatic and implying elsewhere that there's nothing wrong with capitalism (despite causing unprecedented and possibly unrecoverable inequality)" and "This is precisely why not everyone should have the power to vote" you make it about 10x harder to ever convince "normal" people that things like conservation and gender issues are real issues worth taking seriously, because you come across like a frothing crusader and discredit everyone else by association. Just looking at the way you dismiss everyone who disagrees with you as not only factually but morally wrong and unworthy of a voice makes it extraordinarily easy to dismiss everything you have to say in turn.

Maybe you could consider that you don't live in a world of liberal philosophers, but a world full of dumbasses who will do things like take the muffler off their truck and throw garbage out the window - or speak abusively to or about women - just because they resent the way that smart-ass kid talked down to them. The way you speak is a lot more likely to encourage that than it is to get anyone to agree with you, ultimately working against the very goal you claim to support.

Also, Greta Thunberg is 16, not 12. How ironic on multiple levels that you diminish her this way while condescending to others for not doing their research.

Well, there were 12-year-olds as well: https://youtu.be/oJJGuIZVfLM. Maybe if we listened then, there's no need for Greta to step up today.

In terms of the cards, although you don't prefer the backs, I see the back as the pollution of water resource by an oil spill, once again a very grotesquely vivid depiction of the world we live in now. I love this deck sooo much due to its motif, but I have to say this video has become my favorite video of all time on your channel, Omar! Your extremely powerful, cautious, yet elegant narrative style really demonstrated the fullness and richness of this deck, something that I could never reach even as a fellow reviewer. Thanks for this.

Excuse me, but I would like to speak to the manager please. How has this deck escaped my attention so long? Heads will roll!

Picked up a pair last night - they are still available at http://kahnselesnick.biz/

Fine art editions are arguably more than twice what I want to pay for them, but I get the awful feeling I’m going to get them anyway…

The deck is just so dang nice - can’t think of another that would give me a quandary on purchasing such things…

The commercial decks are also more than I want to pay - but I did get two, and may have to get two more :)

Dammit - just talking about it got me going - just picked up another two decks and both art decks - didn’t even make it to lunch…

From my understanding, the difference between the art edition and the main edition are the backs and the paper material? I may just need to hold a boundary with myself and stick with the main one I have; a gift from a fellow collector, making it extra special already.

Ah, I went to look back at the KS. Additionally, no indices and squared corners. Price is just about in-line with the KS pricing, but a bit hefty on the pocketbook.

The top one is open, I’ll have to take some pics soon (and its not that I had the nuts to open it, these are really a folio of prints technically, and the tuck is just a folded over thingy - you can see the cards through the side)
