The art was not muddy at all, despite the intricate artwork.
Happy to have my dogs immortalized in the Onsen deck.

As much as Enders said he was trying to inject some 'positive vibes' into this thread, we seem to have someone determined to be negative

Hahaha. I was looking at ark decks and then saw this. It took me a while to figure out what I was looking at. I don't own any ark or jack penny decks and thought too loudly about muddiness. My comment is derived from having difficulty in deciphering the images. It seems I don't even really know what muddy art means if that is not it. Whatever it is exactly, it must be really negative.

Here's Ark's Atlantis deck:
Here's Nazo Nazo:
I'm reminded of "wimmelbilder" art:
There are clear subjects and backgrounds, but they're both a pretty similar brightness - overall there's very little contrast
Here's Nazo Nazo:
It's awfully busy artwork, but there's a lot more variation in colors and brightness. I absolutely know what you mean, though, there's no "focus" to lots of JBP artwork, but I think you could argue it encourages closer viewing and a more patient eye. It's hard to make out sometimes on first glance, though, sure - but it's the style

Yes some people are confusing busy with muddy for some reason or other

So muddy is just lack of contrast and this is difficult to see because of it being busy. I can kind of see that. I think there are elements that lack contrast here too but definitely very different from the Ark Atlantis deck. Thanks for your insight.

In Nazo Nazo’s defense:
The artwork is one big painting of a Japanese Guest House that is…. CHAOTIC, but they are artistically exceptional~
And don’t forget that each cards at least have a few idioms and such, drawn literally
Tatami and Onsen deck provides “hidden object game”, which makes the chaotic scene suitable for the game haha
