Re: Bionic Blossom by Sleepy Lantern (KS)
the joker, backs and court art look great! the aces, not so much. the AoS for the bionic editions look in line with the court art but the rest look like a cheap neon theme standard bike deck for $7.99.
the tuck art looks great but the wording in that font and round layout ruins it. the B looks like a D and all i see is Dionic Dlossom. just remove the name altogether or maybe put it on the side of the tuck.
the prices for the decks are pretty good but the jump for the 2 bionic decks at $34 to $75 for the set is a bit ridiculous. the box looks good but $41 for a box and coin is way too much. i am not one for boxes and coins but the charmie dreams sets, i have them all.
i understand that the charmie dreams box deals are pretty amazing but their jump between 2 decks to 2 decks, box, coin and booklet in the last campaign, if i am doing the math right, is about $8. i thought it was like $15. the current campaign difference is $10. either way, pretty amazing and it isnt $41. $10 increase is a no brainer for me.
i like the art on this deck a lot but if the campaign remains in its current form it will likely be a pass. at most, a single classic edition.

Re: Bionic Blossom by Sleepy Lantern (KS)
Couldn't have said it better myself. I also see campaigns like this failing because they offer too many variations all at once. I don't really see the appeal of a "bionic tuck" although I applaud the creativity and trying to be different, but with two deck variants and two tuck variants for each deck, I have my trepidations.STLBluesNut wrote: ↑Wed May 10, 2023 4:33 pm the joker, backs and court art look great! the aces, not so much. the AoS for the bionic editions look in line with the court art but the rest look like a cheap neon theme standard bike deck for $7.99.

“Dionic Dlossom”!!!!

The aces in this deck should be a transition from the more subtly decorated number cards to the quite flamboyant art of the court cards. So, I wanted to create a certain gradation between basic crop circle designs toward the high tech biomechanical one (reflected in the Aces of Spades). Quite different responses I’ve got on those. So, as with everything, it’s pretty much the matter of preferences.
Unfortunately, I can’t say much about the economic and financial structure behind the deck, because in this campaign I took the role of the dumb artist, and left the logistics to the person who I trust very very much – Max, from “Max playing Cards". If anyone (from the people I met) from the playing cards community is sincere, honest, well minded and modest above all – it’s him. So, I’m pretty sure that he made the most affordable construction, keeping in mind quite high production costs, especially on in-demand items like custom magnetic boxes and coins.
The box is not just another box. I don't think many of you have engraved hard magnetic cardboard boxes. With a fun little feature of hidden design under the coin holder. At least, there is none in my collection with that feature and that makes production more expensive. But, I’m not the collector, so I can accept and definitely respect that remark from more experienced people in that domain.

Re: Bionic Blossom by Sleepy Lantern (KS)
Thanks for this comment, this phenomenon intrigues me quite a lot. I saw several comments like that and I must express my surprise about the prediction of failure based on the fact that the campaign offers too many editions. Why do you think that happens?Couldn't have said it better myself. I also see campaigns like this failing because they offer too many variations all at once. I don't really see the appeal of a "bionic tuck" although I applaud the creativity and trying to be different, but with two deck variants and two tuck variants for each deck, I have my trepidations.
There are two decks (with two different color schemes) and two editions of each, with different tuck cases and different cards in aces and jokers. I say I'm surprised, because so many creators squeeze collectors with boring color variations and this time around we've made sure that whoever wants to get them all will at least have reasonably different products. Of course, whoever thinks that there are too many, can choose only those that he likes or that he can afford. I never thought that offering more variety would be a problem, but I appreciate the point of view, and definitely would like to understand that phenomenon better.

Re: Bionic Blossom by Sleepy Lantern (KS)
For me its all nice looking, design wise - all polished and well done - but I would have preferred all that effort being poured into the pip cards and having just one or two decks without more hard to place in the card cabinet collectors boxes - I really get picky and choosy with storage and shelf space as the collection fills out - and I have been on a transformation deck kick, so take that with a grain of salt or two as well

Re: Bionic Blossom by Sleepy Lantern (KS)
This thread needs some pictures of this lovely looking project, so I'm posting some below.
At this point it's fairly close to being funded, so hopefully for the creators it will get the push it needs over the next 10 days or so.
I love the look of the tuck box with its unique opening mechanism.

Re: Bionic Blossom by Sleepy Lantern (KS)
yeah the courts are great but the cheesy aces and the wording on the tuck kill it all for me.

STLBluesNut you are so right about the above - the B is ridiculous and the tuck would have been better without the name altogetherthe tuck art looks great but the wording in that font and round layout ruins it. the B looks like a D and all i see is Dionic Dlossom. just remove the name altogether or maybe put it on the side of the tuck.

Re: Bionic Blossom by Sleepy Lantern (KS)
The deck looks nice, especially the court cards and the tuck, and that's all the good things I can say about the deck.
The tuck is so thin and I just can't close it back after I use it. And I can foresee it'll break easily. And it's difficult to open it as well.
The card itself is rough and dull, you can not fan or spread with it. The edge of it is sharp and I feel bad to handle it.
I will not recommend it to anyone and won't support any project from them.

Re: Bionic Blossom by Sleepy Lantern (KS)
I just ordered one from a webshop for about 13$ usd and shipping was almost free since the low cost was spread out over 16 decks. Your review does not sound promising lol but at least i didn't pay ks retail price of 20$usd plus shipping. It's fairly common for ks projects to offer wholesalers a 50% discount or more. Ks backers are made up of regular collectors who pay high retail prices and of resellers who get mega discounts. The price gouge on ks is a huge deterrent for me and fomo is useless in most cases. With some patience, many if not most, will be much cheaper later. I can't see on the campaign but do you know who the printer is?TorresOVER wrote: ↑Wed Nov 15, 2023 1:49 am WhatsApp Image 2023-11-15 at 14.37.12.jpeg
Just got it. I think it's selling cheaper on PM & Murphy which is a sucker move for those backers on KS.
