Hyper Neon Playing Cards by Riffle Shuffle

Unread post by jerichoholic »

Another new one from Riffle Shuffle. They previously released Neon Lines and I guess this is the follow up. It's colorful if anything.

After years of waiting, we are now bringing back a new edition of Neon Lines - The Hyper Neon Playing Cards.

Designed for Cardistry, the Hyper Neons kept its original design with contrasting colours and trajectory lines, but with added circular lines and dots to make your cardistry moves pop out! Spreads, fans, displays, you name it, the Hyper Neons will boost up your flow as if travelling at hyper speed!

With the incredible work from ITS TEAM, the cards' faces have also gotten a fresher look. Each of the suits is having more details from the previous version, introducing more dimension to the deck. Whether you are spreading from the back or the face, with the added lines to the edges, you can now enjoy the beautiful flow of lines from the face of the cards.

The Hyper Neon Playing Cards will be printed by USPCC on their Bee Crushed Stock, perfect for showing off your speedy moves. Limited to 2500 Decks. When you purchase 6 decks or more, you will automatically get a Hyper Neon Half Brick Box.

Half Brick Box Features:
Custom artwork on both inner and outer sides
FREE with purchase of 6 decks or more
Available here for $13, shipped (for the next 2 days only): https://www.riffleshuffle.com/collectio ... hyper-neon

They should've named it Neon Cringe.

I strongly dislike the courts! Very strong pass. It seems like I really like a RS deck or really dislike it. No in between.

I have to agree, not a whole lot of charm in this court really. I like the card back though that's all I like that I've seen with this deck. I'm clearly not the target audience though. If I was, it would probably be more to my taste.
TL:DR It's completely up to you.

I actually like playing cards.

As a collector who not only collects decks of high art but also a decks of well-executed quirkiness and abstract art, I like this. The minimalistic yet highly functional back design checks all the boxes for a great fanning experience. The courts? Well, this deck has always been designed by the ITS Design Studio from Korea who specializes in asymmetrical styles and street art antics, so again, conforms with what people are familiar with this studio:

Image

It's one of rare studios with consistent output and one that I would follow indefinitely for its modern take on art.
They are the team who designed this:

And this:

And this:

And especially for some who may be clueless and thinks that this is RS going to the absurd, this deck is a recolored UPGRADE of an existing deck done by ITS alone: Neon Line. Riffle Shuffle completely has no input on the art, just the production.

What about the kong flipping the bird? Isn't USPCC against printing things like that?

I ITS as well but this and the predecessor are not on the good side of designs for me. Despite the colour palette this deck has not really something.

Apparently Zach has pull around there but not Lee McKenzie (Outlaw Playing Cards). Still pisses me off to this day.

So don't talk about business "ethics" with me; I don't believe in that.
Everything is ok-ed or rejected because of PROFIT.

I have no idea why they gave Lee the runaround. I'm glad he was able to fix the "problem" pretty nicely but it stinks that it happened in the first place. And then, right around the corner, came that Fontaine deck. Insult to injury.

Oh yah, I always forget about that one despite owning it πŸ˜….
So a 10,000 run guarantees any design being printed. I'll note that.

USPCC may have had no input in the "art" but it is hot garbage. It belongs on the wall of a cafe in Hongdae. That's it.
