Considering both Legends & WJPC. Legends was the preferred one but getting the sample deck printed through WJ. The puzzle box will be manufactured in China and I've go through a pritner in China so that there is less complexity involved in assembling the boxes while having everything produced in the same country.
Please oh pretty please do not print with WJPC! I want to own this and sadly I will not pledge if it's WJ.
Hey Paul,

I have got good experience with WJ till now and so do my backers who got the limited edition variants of Motley Pack, Kalevala and Bharat deck through then.

Hot foil is a bit different thing though. A good friend and designer (thanks to him once again) told me recently that WJ's gets some kind of detailed foiling and cold foil done from the same factory as used by expert n legends, and when I reached out to them, they agreed to get this sample deck printed through that factory. It is a test for me and I am cautious but the outcome will only tell if it is worth doing hot foil on this artwork and through that factory. I am sorry to hear that you don't have good experience with WJ but I didn't face any issues and in fact, got them to get me a sample foiled deck printed too, which you won't find elsewhere.

A question to you is apart from Lotrek, where have you seen a sample or prototype foiled deck with at least one of the sides foiled. I have not seen any apart from some mockups or renderings shown but no real prototype decks. WJ is getting me that printed too, upon my request.

Elephant Playing Cards has used WJPC for quite a few campaigns and have run into issues to the point that I believe they have gone off them. Something to consider. They had to have some decks reprinted in the past and most recently had a problem with tucks not being glued. I also would not pledge for a campaign that used WJPC.

Seems like they (WJ) had issues in creating the mould for card back that was to be used for hot foiling the prototype deck. Their production team is of the view that the artwork in its current form is too detailed and foil won't come good while there will be too much wastage in Production.

I think this is a sign for me to go back to the drawing board and look at the card back design (and tuckbox given it is using some of the elements from card back) again from a fresh set of eyes.

Legends has come back on the quote with Lawrence interested and fully engaged on this, so I am hoping this will be the start of working closely with them here as well as in any future project.

So, reworked on the tuck and card back. Something was troubling me with the first version. Given the inclination towards foil and more foil, I think I started looking for making something suitable for foil whether or not it is going with the theme. Shiny object syndrome.....huh.

Some of the feedback here and may be, the challenges the pritners stated for the hot foil around the tuck and card back acted as a wake up call. So, here it is the new and improved version 2.0 of the tuckbox & card back. Tuck & card back art is inspired from the artwork found in some of the ancient temples found in India like Meenakshi temple.

It is an ode to Trickster Gods. Here comes, the temple of Trickster Gods. There will still be some foil elements on the tuck around the title & sides but not much. Think people should be getting this deck for its art and not for foil.

The box is almost done and has got 12+ moves to open the box. Looking forward to testing the trick box and the probable Kickstarter launch will be in mid to end Jan.

Woah. I was just following this loosely, because it's Sunish and an interesting theme. But damn if this doesn't look like another slam dunk from the guru

Holy crap the art and colors on the new design! That tuck wouldn't need much, if any, foil. Embossing on matte stock would be pretty amazing though.

I hate that the artwork touches the edges on the blue/white border.

The card back is still going to have the white border throughout. The draft doesn't show that and tricks you into believing that the blue border is at the edge of the card but it won't be.

I think they are talking about the corners of the pillars at the corners of the card touching.

I am not sure what they are called officially, but I call them dual courts. I like them a lot as well. There have been several great decks with dual courts. It is like getting twice the art!

What an improvement over the last draft. I wouldn't mind the name of the deck embossed in gold, and maybe a few embellishments, and an adjustment with those pillars touching the edges. But otherwise, this is shaping up to be a really nice looking deck. You have my support!

Wow. Loving the new tuck and back design. Thanks so much for listening and redesigning the whole tuck and back. That's a lot of work and many designers balk at that.

The temple of tricksters theme is rather eye-catching IMHO. One that doesn't need to be the shiniest, glittery foil encased tuck on the shelf to grab a browser's attention. (Not that anything can beat Arabesque ATM. :D )

Not there yet with the launch date but should happen in the first quarter. The puzzle box assembly is in progress & not looking to rush through with anything.

Somehow I haven't seen this thread before (shame on me, I know!).

But wow, there's some terrific work here! It's great to see how the deck has developed, and this thread is a fine example of how a good creator can incorporate solid feedback from other collectors and creators, and make a good thing even better. Particularly the tuck has gone from "okay" to "outstanding", and it's now something that really stands out from your average project. Some aspects of the style reminds me somewhat of the Bharata deck. Is Ishan Trivedi involved at all with Mythos as well?

All the best in bringing this baby to the market in due time, Sunish!

Thanks Richard. Yes, Guru PCC is Ishan and I. The puzzle box has taken a while as there was an issue with a mechanism that has been resolved now and the Manufacturer is creating another prototype at the moment.

After multiple iterations while resolving technical isssues in the puzzle box, I am glad to say that it is very close to getting done.

Looking to launch Mythos early next year after fulfilling Bosch deck.

Keep a lookout for this folks, the deck comes in one of the hardest puzzle boxes on the planet. Fans of Indiana Jones, Lara Croft, Jackie Chan (Armour of God et al), would love this puzzle box.

If you want to get max publicity, you could try and send a copy of the puzzle box to Chris Ramsay. He loves puzzles and is actually pretty good at solving them. That'll be a great finish for Guru's final deck.

Exactly my sentiments Eric. Even another youtuber has agreed to help in promotion. He is Mr Puzzle from Germany. Fingers crossed. I will be sending a prototype puzzle box to Chris Ramsay too.
