Does somebody wanna volunteer to send me a PM on like February 19? My slate is mostly chosen but I've been waffling over one last category and I know I'm gonna forget to pull the lever and leave Amy hanging like a Florida chad.

glad to have you join in! And, you're in luck - voting for the DOTYs is still open until the 20th (so only about 9 days left to get your votes in) and the award winners and giveaway winners will be announced on March 1st - I also can't wait to see how the voting turns out and am glad to have so much participation from so many of the community.
Also, to everyone else: be sure to get your votes in before the deadline on Feb. 20th - no ifs, ands or buts - voting will be officially closed on that date and if your votes aren't in by then, then you'll be missing out on your chance to enter into the prize giveaway contest... so don't delay - vote today! (or tomorrow, whenever... just before the 20th, mmkay?

aw thanks Gabe!GabeCord wrote:hahaha. oh this was an awesome V-day post Pipchick!!
This was just a DOTY promotional graphic I kinda put together just for today, ya'know, being the 'holiday' and all lol - thought it was relevant and might draw some attention... or not... whatevs lol... but if you wanna see all of the graphics I've been spamming the internet with for the DOTYs, you can check 'em out on my IG - I had kinda hoped they would be posted/reposted on the *official* UC account over the course of the event because, well, it is the account intended to represent UC after all and not just on my own personal account, but... they just haven't been so they're just on mine...

Anyways, I also just haven't been postin' everything here because, well, if you're already here than you should already know about the DOTYs and don't need a promotional graphic to get you to join in to participate lol.

Not sure of the total voter count and if we reached the target set by Montenzi for the his prize. However, it would be good to know how 2018's voter participation stacks with previous years. Amy and Omar of TGW did an amazing job promoting it, resulting with a good number of new blood. Curious to know how much of a difference it made. Those Mods OLD enough to recall could help with this, after voting has closed and decision finalized.

Re: 2018 'Deck of the Year' Awards: DISCUSSION
Hi y'all,
I'm sorry I've been a bit MIA around here lately - just been super busy with a million other things along with bringing this year's DOTYs to a close but I just wanted to give y'all a small update to provide some more information regarding the DOTY prize giveaway contest since I've had a few participants ask about how the winners will be chosen AND announce some very exciting news! So, buckle up - this is probably gunna be a loooong post but I'll try to break it down and keep things as clear, concise and organized as possible.
1.) DOTY AWARDS
But that's all for now folks!
- DOTY award winners will be announced on Friday, March 1st - I haven't yet planned a specific time at which I'll post, but I will most certainly post here at UC well before anywhere else. Would y'all like that we make announcements at a specific time so, for those interested, know when to log on rather than anxiously waiting around all day??? And if so, what time would be most convenient for everyone? Let me know whatchay'all think
- DOTY prize giveaway contest winners will also be announced on Friday, March 1st at the same time as announcement of the DOTY award winners (unless y'all think it would be better at another time as to not overshadow the recognition of the DOTY award winners??)
At this point, everyone that has submitted votes should have also received an *official* confirmation PM back in response to your votes. If you, for whatever reason did in fact submit votes to my PM or the 'DeckAwards' account yet did not receive this confirmation PM back, please contact me as soon as possible so we can ensure that your votes have been submitted and you are entered in the giveaway contest.
In the confirmation email, it also states that you are automatically entered into the prize giveaway contest UNLESS you explicitly write back that you choose to opt out of being entered. For those that would like to opt out, please also let me know as soon as possible (if you haven't done so already) so I can withdraw your entry. I want to avoid announcing the giveaway prize winners as selected through the random drawing and then only after having those winners announced, those wishing to opt out stating they don't want to participate...because then we'd have to re-draw to select new winners and it would make it all the more complicated considering that prizes are given away based on the order in which they are selected by winners. So, pleasepleaseplease let me know if you would like to opt out - otherwise, as I said, you are automatically entered and there's the chance you'll be drawn whether you like it or not.
Also, as it has been asked, I want to let everyone know that I am NOT accepting/allowing requests for one participant's entry to go to another participant as a way to opt out while giving another better odds in the drawing - everyone that voted automatically gets exactly one entry into the prize giveaway contest and has the same chance as everyone else that participated (unless they choose to opt out) and no such requests to give your entry to another will be allowed. If you do happen to be randomly drawn and win selection of a prize in the giveaway and still would like to give that prize to someone else, please arrange that privately with that person and make selection of your prize on their behalf as they wish but all coordination should be done outside of this event as it will not be officially recognized otherwise.
So since I've received a few questions regarding how exactly the prize giveaway drawing will be done, I'll explain precisely how I've been keeping track of participants and how the winners will be chosen to provide as much transparency as possible to eliminate any doubt of bias. As some of you know, I've been tabulating votes solo and, therefore, I'm the only one to know exactly all that have participated and how they've voted - I've deliberately kept these details to myself as to keep this entire process as uninfluenced as possible. And, in tabulating votes, I've also been keeping track of all participants more or less in the order in which they submitted votes.
Now that voting is officially close, I will use the total number voters to assign a random number to each participant (only with the exception of excluding those participants that have expressly opted out of the giveaway contest). But since I not only know the voters and the random numbers assigned to them but am also entered into the giveaway as well as a participant, I will NOT be conducting the drawing as it'd be a clear conflict of interest; instead, I will be passing on ONLY the total number to another mod (even though they may also be entered into the drawing for their own participation, they will not know their own assigned random number) who will enter the total into a random number generator that will be used to create a list. The first number generated by the random number generator, will be the first on the list and each number drawn thereafter will continue to be added to the list to denote the order in which prizes will be selected. So for example, if your randomly assigned number is the 3rd to be drawn, your name will be 3rd on the list of giveaway winners and you can only select among the available prizes after the 1st and 2nd place winner have selected. I hope this makes sense but if you have any questions, please feel free to ask and I'll try my best to further clarify.
Although this seems like a more complicated process rather than just drawing for each prize and just assigning winners those prizes, this selection process seemed to work pretty well last year and allows winners the most choice in what prize they'd like to receive. Think of it like playing tag among the winners, going from one to the next until all prizes are claimed for
If there are any other questions or concerns regarding the giveaway, please let me know but I hope this all helps to clarify everything.
WE DID IT GUYS!montenzi wrote:
We have a deal!PipChick wrote: YES! and if we all just chip in one deck, than we'll all win... at least one deck...lmao
btw montenzi, if we reach our 200 voter goal, do you think you'll donate a deck to our prize giveaway...??hmmm...??
But not 200. Just 88 votes and I'll print a greenNeo:WAVE deck at MPC (green background vs. blue) with the original back (green waves). For you and for two other voters. Each of you will get two decks. Custom text "made for ..." on any card. Only 7 will be made (one for me
) OR I can send Red Tiki and Black or White Tiki (if unlocked).
I'm very proud to announce that, in the very last week of open voting, we have did in fact not only reach but also surpass Montenzi's magic number of 88 participants in this year's DOTYs! And we couldn't have done it without all of y'all's amazing participation to help make it possibleYAY! This means that 2 more lucky participants will be receiving 2 decks each; their choice of either his most recent HELLO TIKI: V2 decks, OR a very special, custom deck as part of an EXTREMELY limited print run of a green NEO: WAVE variant - How cool is that!?!
Thank you montenzi! and thank you to everyone that voted to help us reach this goal!

HA! are we getting impatient?? lol Buuuuttt Brad, how else are we gunna build the suspense and hype??? And can't a little tease be fun too?

And - no tea, no shade - but I'm actually better than most KS creators these days because I propose a plan well in advance and actually stick to that course of action... not-so-humble-brag here but there be nothin' but smooth sailings when we got this cocky@ss boss-b*tch at the helm

Yea, those montenzi Green WAVEs are sounding pretty sweet and it's awesome that they're only being offered here to US here at UC for all our awesome efforts in boosting participation this yeararjun1616 wrote:wow that extra 2 decks shall be awesome. also can u tell exact number of particapants???

However, even though we did reach montenzi's magic number, I would've still like to have seen even greater participation from the community as a whole; because, even though this event was totally open to anyone and everyone, literally no strings attached or minimum requirements to participate other than just joining up - including designers & producers themselves - and promoted across several different platforms and to different communities as a completely open invitation to other enthusiasts of the hobby to join in to participate
- (which, not to get totally off track but is worth mentioning, weirdly enough apparently offended one of the heads of another somewhat newly formed forum/fb group as apparently he felt that I was like trying to "steal" his members
and I had been banned from that forum and the affiliated social media pages because of it - even though I tried reaching out to him multiple times prior to posting to ask for his favor and was totally ignored...
- um, like okay... that was pretty awkward and I think he was assuming much more malicious intent on my end than the reality which was that I really just wanted to just simply offer an invitation for people to vote regardless of whatever tribe they may be a part of so we can recognize and honor designers/producers... I honestly don't care one bit and we ALL here at UC have been incredibly warm and welcoming to all new members regardless
but whatevs, he apparently knows best for his community, clearly favoring censorship to shield them from other opportunities and would rather keep us all divided than fostering open inclusiveness to all in the hobby... but again, whatevs
it's just a shame because it's not in the best interest of others and he's not even giving them a choice in the matter when he decides for them and is really quite selfish on his part, just to grow his own following and dictate what is and isn't shared on his site to maintain greater influence... anyways, I've digressed... what were talking about??
oh yea, total figures lol);
in total, we only were able to get just under 100 participants to submit votes. So, for those that did vote, the odds of winning the chance to select from the prize giveaway is actually very, VERY good - better than 1 in 4 odds - and, not only are your odds better than any other prize prize giveaway presently out there, but so are the prizes being offered exclusively to this community through this particular event! Not to mention that we're the only ones out there even holding such an awesome event regardless and it being so inclusive to anyone and everyone interested in participating. I really love the DOTYs and think it's a great way to all come together and celebrate the hobby and can't wait to make it bigger and better next year

I have tried sending a couple moderators pm's but for some reason it says everyone does not exist when I hit submit.
Pip mentioned we should have received a confirmation that our votes were received. I have not received one and I sent them in to Pip on Jan 30th. I just wanted to make sure my votes were counted and I was entered.
sorry to put this here but my pm's are not working it seems.

Question: This is my first DOTYs, so I know the voters get a lot of things to win but do the actual winners get anything except the recognition, like a certificate or something? or are these awards quoted anywhere else outside the UC community?
If not then I guess for next year this should be the goal to make these awards be something recognizable outside of UC too
