Thanks for your thought. I've actually started out with Bicycle Rider Backs (the decks that specially say 'Rider Back' in the tuckbox), trying to get all I can for it. I'm still missing the Burgundy and the Tri-K deck at the moment, which seems near impossible to find nowadays (I am also missing one where it was an exclusive given out at a new casino opening or something, but won't even bother going for that one, extras are probably nonexistent by now). I've also gotten some other decks along the way, and also backing a fair amount of KS campaigns in the past 2 months, but I figured it's time for me to start a new collection. And hearing about Tally Ho's made me want to start on this. But I was indeed worried about this becoming too expensive (way more expensive than the Rider Backs), hence I was looking for suggestions on how I can start this in an affordable manner...JacksonRobinson wrote:I think a great piece of advice to new collectors that are trying to keep some reasonable boundaries is pick something specific and collect that for a while and see how it goes. It also will make it more interesting because it becomes a game in a way of finding that "thing".irtjames14 wrote:I guess I am very behind in the Tally Ho game... And I apologize if this is the wrong post to be making this comment.. So far the only Tally Ho that I have is the spectrum one.. (You'll have to cut me some slack since I did only start collecting cards in July 2018)..
With that said.. what would be some of the more affordable Tally Ho decks to start off for a collection? A lot of these decks are nearing the $20+ range based on what I've seen and I'm afraid these decks may be very costly to pursue.. And if this is going to be the case, I'm not sure if I want to embark on this journey..
Can I get some suggestions on the 'best' way to start this collection in an affordable manner?
Thank you!
Examples:
Only Collect Tally Ho decks
Only Collect decks with Bald Eagles
Only Collect Kings Wild Decks![]()
Only Collect Train Decks
Ask CBJ about only collecting Bike decks
I know a very kind gentleman, that if you go to 52 Plus Joker convention, that collects everything that has a camel on it. Don't ask me why, but I think its awesome.
Then on top of that if something comes along that you just really love get it as well.

James, I would go for the Kings Wild Tally-Ho display decks. Most of them are only $10-15 (last I checked). The Black Diamond deck does not have a display/player's edition, but it's a MetalLuxe deck, and worth every penny.

I'm going to ask a very noob-ish question. What's the difference between Kings Wild and other Tally Ho decks? And what are some examples of the Kings Wild decks?TwoPiece wrote:90% of their decks are awesome, but they're some of the most expensive to find on the aftermarket...JacksonRobinson wrote: Only Collect Kings Wild Decks![]()

Most Tally-Ho decks are designed by USPCC. Kings Wild is an independent brand led by Mr. Jackson Robinson. Kings Wild has 6 different Tally-Ho branded decks:irtjames14 wrote:I'm going to ask a very noob-ish question. What's the difference between Kings Wild and other Tally Ho decks? Scarlett Tally-Ho
Emerald Tally-Ho
Black Diamond Tally-Ho

USPCC owns the branding for Bicycle, Bee, and Tally-Ho (a few others). Kings Wild has printed decks with EPCC also. I don't think he has used LPCC or Carta Mundi that I can remember.

Ah got it! Interesting fact, thank you!
I actually just ordered like 13 different Tally Ho decks from playingcarddecks.com. Two of them were the Emerald and the Pearl ones! What a way for me start, right!? haha
The Black Diamond and Scarlett are like $30+ right now that I saw on ebay so I held off on that for now.. As I understand, Olives haven't been sent yet from the KS campaign, so can't order as of now. And I can't find the Wild Blue ones (nor the yellow ones, if there is a separate one for it..)
My wallet is really taking its hit... I need to stop buying cards... LOL (bought over 120 different decks prior to today's order and have a good amount of KS pledges backed, a few of them in heavy amounts like the Mint 2 and planet series playing cards).. Ugh, all these damn great cards!!!!

Re: Olive Tally-Ho by KingsWild
The best regular Tally-Hos were printed in Ohio, as indicated by a blue seal (as opposed to a black one). Jackson's impressions of them have been excellent but aside from him no one really customizes Tally's very much. Aside from a bunch of recolors but Jackson's are better. Re: Olive Tally-Ho by KingsWild
Historically playing card companies would give their court card sets or decks numbers IE. Bicycle 808, Tiger 101, Tally Ho No. 9, I use the No. 13 as a representation of my Kings Wild Standard Court cards. So if you see a Kings Wild deck that has the No. 13 It has some variant of a Kings Wild Standard Court card. It is almost like a Kings Wild sub-brand.CupcakeBaron wrote:What's the significance of No. 13 Tally Ho's?JacksonRobinson wrote:You're hurting my eyes with all those colors Jason! You got to keep it classy man! Re: Olive Tally-Ho by KingsWild
There are probably a few sellers here that have the Scarlett Tally-Ho display decks for less. Black Diamond, as was mentioned, is a MetalLuxe deck. I highly doubt it ever goes below $30. JR has said that orders not including the 200 gilded edition decks will be shipping soon for Olive. The Kings Wild "standard" Tally-Ho has a blue and yellow tuck case (1 single deck with blue backs). You should be able to find it relatively easily.irtjames14 wrote: Ah got it! Interesting fact, thank you!

I just got an update that all of the gilded decks have arrived and Jackson will be sending out all of the remaining rewards. The boxes look great and I am looking forward to getting my rewards before too long. Hum, getting rewards EARLY? What kind of operation is Jackson running. He is going to give Kickstarter a bad reputation of efficiency.

I'm also testing driving a new relationship with Murphy's Magic and the Olive Players will be available from them in a few days as well. The prices at both places are higher than the Kickstarter but is a pretty reasonably priced alternative to eBay auctions.

Good catch, seems like ToM didn't transpose the copy just right >< I'll let them now for sure.hikeeba wrote:The Federal 52 first say "Printed in the USA at the United States Playing Card Company,", then below: "Printed by the Expert Playing Card Company of New York City"niceguy0750 wrote:Some of Jackson previous decks including the recent standard Olive Tally Ho are on sale on https://www.touchofmodern.com" onclick="window.open(this.href);return false;" onclick="window.open(this.href);return false;" onclick="window.open(this.href);return false;.

EDITED: I notified ToM and they are supposed to update the info. They simply copied the manufacturer info from the Silver Arrows and Crazy 8s thinking they were all printed at the same place...
Thanks again for the catch.

Re: Olive Tally-Ho by KingsWild
If you're a new collector, you may have to bite the bullet as far as spending cash for the past decks that came out. The most important thing is that you should be very selective about the decks you get because it's overwhelming of how many decks you'll see. 3 years later you might not like most of the decks you have and wanna get rid of them. Like you'll have 120 but wanna get rid of 50-70 of them.

Re: Olive Tally-Ho by KingsWild
Yeah, getting in the game now can prove expensive considering the massive amount of great decks that have been produced over the years. As demand rises with more hobbyists, the prices will rise with supply continuing to dwindle.
I didn't get in the Kickstarter game until Emerald Tally-Ho. That was still relatively early in JR's line of decks. I only really ever had to shell out for the 52+ Joker Silver and Scarlett Tally-Ho Gold decks.

Received my decks yesterday. The metallic inks are definitely more muted compared to the prior decks. It makes the back design a little less nice, but the courts still look pretty good with the contrast to regular inks.

Well, he does have at least a brother and father not covered yet. So there's 2 more Tally Ho colors right there if he still wants to do Tally Ho. Plus there can be one more for wedding anniversary. oooh.. there's an idea. A wedding anniversary themed deck.
