Carte Toscane Transformation Deck by Il Meneghello

Unread post by Räpylätassu »

This is not a new deck by any means, but it is a GORGEOUS custom deck so I thought it deserves its own thread. The Carte Toscane Transformation Deck by Il Meneghello. The deck is a 1996 reprint of an Italian transformation deck from around 1850's by Adolfo Matarelli. The deck is a 52 card deck, but not poker sized, the cards are larger than the standard poker sized cards. The deck also comes in a two piece box rather than a traditional tuck box. It is a full transformation style deck and truly a gorgeous one. This deck is also a limited edition of 1000 decks. There is also a more mass produced edition by the company Cavallini & Co, that is not limited to a 1000 decks.

Some pictures I picked around the internet (I was too lazy to take my own lol ):

Finding this deck unopened is not easy, but there is right now an unopened, sealed deck on ebay right now. Starting bid 9,99 USD, less than 13,5 hours to go. LINK. I already have one and I would bid on this one as well if it wasn't for the high shipping costs. Honestly, from one collector to another, don't pass on this one. (I paid over three times the starting bid for an opened deck!)

Edit: Opening post edited.

Hi my friend,

yet another gem you share with us, thank you! (and keep up the good work :D )
I'd be bidding as well, but you're right, those shipping costs are too much ...

I appear to have some competition for this deck. I'm not going to go crazy on it. Is my competitor here on this thread? :)

I do like the cards you showed above! Thanks!

Dammit, Roop. I was lurking that listing just fine until you had to go and advertise it! Why do you want me to go broke so bad? What did I ever do to you?! :x

Rouss, you go ahead and take it. It's not something I have to have so I was only gonna bid up to USD20 anyway.

I got sniped with *exactly* two seconds to spare, by a bidder who didn't appear earlier in the bidding. Implies to me that they used that service that someone had mentioned earlier that automatically places snip bids on your behalf.

Anyway... it was fun. Maybe next time. :)

This seller from Etsy also has one deck sealed!

It honestly is not often you find this deck sealed, vast majority of listings are for opened decks. Anyway, single deck, no bidding, let's see who is the fastest.

Edit: I could not find anywhere else an unopened deck sold online right now.

Can't believe I'm saying this but don't open it. I forgot about it completly but this deck is limited to a 1000 decks (there actually is a handnumber extra card on each deck, mine is number 401/1000). The deck was made in 1996 and the norm with listing this deck seems to be that it is opened, unopened decks need to mention specifally for being one. The vast majority of listings are for opened decks. Who knows how many unopened decks even are there anymore, couple hundred? Less?

I would recommend to see if you can get an opened deck from ebay for a good price if you wish to see the cards.

Curious. Does the extra numbered card have a text about the deck on its reverse, like this?

I got my deck opened, this is what my extra card looks like (slightly damaged, previous owner tried to cut the corners apperantly)

My deck does not have a card like that, but I got mine opened so maybe I'm missing a card...?

Sealed Toscana deck, starting bid 18,95 USD, 2 days left to go. Or you can just buy it right away for 25 USD, which is not a bad price IMO. This is the Cavallini & Co version. Shipping from California.

Allan, maybe you can get this one :D

I found a website that sells unopened Il Meneghello decks. Carte Toscane for 39,50 USD. This is the one shown in the pictures above and they are also selling the edition that is limited to a 1000 decks. You can on a occasion get the more mass produced Cavallini & Co version on ebay cheaper, but still this is a rather good price.

They also have the more rare Gioco Dei Giornali for 39,50 USD. This one is more harder to find and there isn't a mass produced version of this one. If somebody is going to get one (IMO this is a good deal) open it's own thread for this deck, thank you.
