And here are my poker chips. The oldest ones are in the wooden boxes (late 1890s - early 1900s), but they really aren't much different from the other poker chips (1920s - 1940s - ish). My favorites are the paranoid chips, great color and feel, and the 1 9/16 inch size feels so much better than 1 1/2 inch. The No-Slips are really nice, but I don't quite yet have enough for my home poker game. Last poker game we played with some 1970 Blue Ribbon cards, very nice, and I'm ready to break in the Carlo chips next month.

And these NYCCC chips are the Prince of Wales version, and I really like the detail on the box.

Back to the playing cards! I really like the courts in these old Dougherty Patented decks (c1885), and the monogram is pretty cool, too. And how about that nice tuck box for the mid-size Jewel Playing Cards.

KEM Royal - This special set was produced for a short time beginning in late-1937 with the new DuPont material - Lucite. This came with the original Duchess back playing cards which have a blue background in the center. The ad in the third picture is from the October 30, 1937 issue of the New Yorker magazine.

Quick Googling tells me that $10 in 1937 is equivalent to ~$180 today

(Two more new posts above this one)

And even older on this one: Union Playing Card Co c1880. Again, a bit beat up. The back design survived and was used by American Playing Card Co. c1900, and I included a comparison of the some of the courts Enjoy.

A few new arrivals to add to the collection. A batch of c1920s Bicycle Russell & Morgan Factories decks in Lotus, Racer, Wheel No. 2, and Emblem and a Bee Pinochle No. 97 deck from 1941 with a great back design. Plus a really nice Dragon back Congress No. 606 deck c1900.

Here's a new item for my collection, a set of W. Duke Sons & Co., Duke's Cigarettes insert playing cards. These were individually inserted in packs of Duke's Cigarettes around 1890, and you would have to collect them all to get a deck. Cards measure 1 1/2 x 2 3/4 inches. This deck came with the small, handmade box to put them in. Neat set. Washington ("W") Duke was an American tabacco baron for whom Duke University was named after he left part of his great fortune to the university.

Here are a couple of old 1880s Sportsman’s decks from Russell & Morgan (predecessor to USPCC). Love the old Aces of Spades and the intricate back designs.

Back in September 2019 I posted my collection of Arrco Streamline decks, and I thought I had them all. Just came across a Streamline No. 888 deck that I had never seen before. The only other deck I could find online is listed on Shopee, a Philippines online shopping site. My best guess is that these were for the export market, maybe in the 1950s, maybe later. Anyone have more information about the Streamline No 888?

Update Nov 2022 - And another Streamline deck to add to the collection, this one with a groovy tuck. From 1997.

Two new vintage decks for me to add to my collection. I have one of the Original Maverick decks with a tax stamp and the original revolver jokers, c1960s, and an interesting gilded, blank backed Waddington's Chevalier deck with a 10 cent tax stamp, c1930s. PLUS a deck made for Black, Starr & Frost, a legendary New York jewelry store, probably late 1920s. All unused and really nice.

Sticking with vintage cards, here is a great, gilded 2 deck box set for Body by Fisher from 1927 (the year after GM fully bought out Fisher Body). I also have what I think is the earliest Club Reno issue with the slipcase and jokers, and to round it off a 1/2 dozen assorted Royal all plastic playing cards made in Hong Kong (I'm guessing 1970s based on the box font and design).

Monday Mail day. Got in this great set of 3 gilded Russell Playing Card Co decks with the old Willis W Russell Rustler joker (before they replaced the rope "R" with the word joker). The two sealed decks have a 1922 tax stamp.

And I received this c 1880s NYCCC Squeezers 35 deck with a great back design and a two deck set of very nice c1925 Brown & Bigelow gilded decks. The sealed deck has the square 10 cent tax stamp.

TGIF, baby. Here are a few more additions to the collection: A very sweet Bee Bridge two pack set with the decks still in the original wrappers, with the 1924 - 1929 tax stamp. Check out the Bee and Squeezers imprinted on the wrappers.

Next is a 1898 National Card Co No 555 Full - House Poker deck. This deck has two additional cards in each suit, 11s and 12s.
IMG_2537.JPG
And finally a bunch of random late 1920s stuff I picked up on Etsy. Interestingly, the top two decks are gilded, even though they feel like lower tier cards.

So few of my antique decks have boxes, so it's nice to show the ones that do. Here is a 1898 National Club deck and an NYCCC Canary deck (great Ace) with what I think is a mis-matched box since it is a SPCC tax stamp on the Good Luck No 910 box.
