Oh! If only this were a 52-card deck! I don't collect the 32-card sizes. But the courts sure are beautiful... particularly the queens. The tuck is unexpectedly lovely, too - you can see the background in fin de siècle advertising. Reminds me of some of the ad work Alphonse Mucha did.

This is probably answered elsewhere, but for the life of me I can't find it this morning: why the W index for the jacks? My best guess was local pronunciation/orthography for the French valet, but if so it seems odd to see it in combination with king/könig instead of roi.

Cruising eBay and found a listing for these for USD15 + 12 shipping from Russia. Item description actually says 36+2 cards so not sure what's up with that, but it seems like a good price regardless!
