Hope I’m not doing this wrong, I don’t wanna join this forum and immediately act like an ass, you know?

Anyway, I’m just collector that loves to photograph my decks. Not much more to say really.

I’ll post my photos in this thread as I go. But I’ll post some older photos too. I think I’ll make a new message/post(?) in here for each deck, does that make sense?

Thanks y’all! Yeah I edited it out. I used to have the tucks just resting on a surface, but when one person said something like “I wonder if there is a way to avoid those shadows” I tried to figure out a solution. So I built a little lego “tower” that the tuck rests on and then I edit it out in post.

I actually did a screen recording of my whole editing process not long ago, in case you wanna see. The first part of the video is the whole process in real time, but I also included two sped up versions that you can skip to if you want:

Edit: changed the link to hopefully jump you straight to the sped up version of the editing.

Edit 2: I just realized you can cut and trim videos on youtube, so I just cut out the first long part. It was boring anyway. Much more satisfying to watch the editing in fast forward. The changes will take a little time to appear though.

Im having an issue. Some of the photos I am trying to upload gets an error message that says "It was not possible to determine the dimensions of the image. Please verify that the URL you entered is correct". Anyone know what can cause this? The dimensions of the jpeg is in the meta data of the file. Ive exported all of them with the same settings from Lightroom and some of them work fine, but not all. This is very strange.

Like Timmargh said, image attachments here on the forum are less-than-stellar -- I also use imgur and then post pictures like this (no spaces):

I think the next thing for admins to look into is seeing if there's BBcode updates for each of the plugins used on this forum and revamping them a bit. Integrating image rotation is one of many potential improvements.

Making the user experience more convenient would likely spark more engagement and we can see more beautiful pics of cards like Eirik's.

Okay I guess I’ll try Imgur.

Thing is, I’ve had issues with some of my photos not being able to be uploaded on both Reddit and Bluesky before. What happens is that I select them the normal way and then nothing happens. Normally photos upload into the message/post I’m making immediately, but nothing happens. And just like here, the photos have the same exact export settings as the ones that does work.

So this is the first time I’ve had this issue AND gotten an error message about it. I was hoping someone here knows what the error message means. I should google it.

Anyway, I’ll try Imgur for now!

Hey how do you all feel about the shallow depth of field on the photos of the tuck here? I'm talking about the blurry corners, basically. Is it annoying? Would you rather have the whole tuch sharp? There will always be a little blur with how I shoot, but there is more here in these photos than others Ive shot.

This one was hard to photograph for me. It’s so hard to make the black foil on the black tuck look nice in photos. It looks amazing irl, but I’m not sure my photos do it justice.
Also the (very nice) foil on the cards is hard to photograph because the angle at which the foil shines is the same angle at which the rest of the card shines. If the rest of the card had a matte surface finish, the foil would stand out much better in photos. But I guess that might affect how smoothly the cards handle. They feel great btw!
I don’t know how y’all feel about these photos, but I’m okay with them. I didn’t use a tripod for the photos of the cards, instead I just handheld the camera and used a wide aperture, which lead to a shallow depth of field. So parts of the cards are out of focus on purpose. If I got paid to do this, I’d try harder. But I kinda like this esthetic.
