SoCal has popcorn bidding, so the deck couldn't have been sniped if anyone else was serious about getting the deck beyond $1500.

to know the deck was upped $5 shows you that not many felt it was worth that much to begin with or it would’ve went past &1505

Buyers remorse gonna set in real fast for that collector

No deck is nowhere near to be worth that much

On the flip side, I would argue that at least two, if not three, people thought this deck was worth at least $1500 and could afford to pay it. Perhaps there were others that believed this deck was worth as much but couldn't actualize it with their wallets.

You might not believe the deck is worth that much and that could be true for you, but that doesn't mean it isn't worth it for somebody else. If someone outright asked a high price for the deck, I might question their intentions, but in this case it was a fair and open auction for people to decide what this deck was worth to them.

Could they have buyer's remorse? Maybe. Would I hope they enjoy the treasure of Blue Damask? Absolutely.

Even if they consider it an investment - you certainly can’t turn a profit today on it, but they (hopefully) could several years from now

It might seen nuts to pay 1500 now and we will certainly scoff the first time it sells for 4K - but I’ve seen such things happen (and not happen) - and frankly it could go for 20k 20 years from now as many of us kick ourselves for selling at some much lower insanely high price

People pay 30k for fishing lures. (And they pay 3 cents - again, not trying to imply some promise of value)

Off topic: I have this idea for a science fiction movie of a future utopian society where all of our needs are provided by AI robots that are everywhere helping their human masters. Some train their masters to be great competitive athletes or fighters. Some become great minds, politicians, artists and so much more. The AI robots help and support us as we grow, develop and explore. They are our mentors and friends as we move forwards. At the end of the movie a pair of robots are talking with each other and you find that they regard humans as pets that they train for their own enjoyment. We are nothing more than dogs are to us.

yeah what year was that -haven’t seen a blue demask on eBay sell for $500 EVER

ok 👌
Back in 2018. It was a BUY IT NOW, thank goodness. In between $200-$400.

That'll suck if someone wins a bid $5 over you.

It just went for $1,200 opened. #10/120 Congratulations to the winning bidder! I can confidently say this is the most in-demand Lotrek deck I've seen.

I was blindsided by seeing these prices, glad I got mine from Lotrek. To be fair it was 2018 Lotrek (values didn't start heating up until late '19 early '20) and we had with no warning suddenly 24 hours or less to decide to send $115 to Lotrek. I know, no brainer right? Well not so much at the time! I'll take blue over red any day so that's what convinced me. I kinda miss the mystery decks, I was always a first wave sight unseen buyer, but being a patron is kinda the same lol. Also I don't know why anyone would expect there to be much difference for an open deck, his decks do not have seals because he wants them to be opened and actually appreciated, and keeping them in disgusting cello (particularly the bags of the older decks) should be an actual punishable crime. Want to protect it then get a carat case the way it deserves instead of leaving it in a trash bag.

Well... You can call me crazy or a fanatic (maybe I really am, because it's only visible from the outside)), but I consider the opposite a crime - ripping these cello bags off the decks. All decks of Lotrek that I have, including Blue Damask, remain in cellophane if it was originally on this type of deck, of course. This may slightly spoil the impression of the beholder, but if you skillfully place the decks in cases, this practically does not affect the appearance, and in return you get the preserved original packaging, protection from scratches during friction and a guarantee that no one has touched these cards with their dirty sweaty hands and taken a couple for memory. It is also an extra plus when selling - if the deck is without cellophane and you are not the first owner, then the only way to find out if everything is in order is to look for yourself, which means opening the box, which is not cool. In my opinion, a deck without original packaging is less valued, but this is my opinion, I do not impose it.

First of all, I would say I NEVER got that email from Lotrek about getting a blue Damask. If so, I would have bought one! Of course I bought a red Damask from Day 1 or whatever. Nice to know we have stuff people would spend thousands on.

Second I agree that an unopened deck is more valued than an opened deck. Rare or not, an opened deck can be valued up to whatever price, it's all about how the owner took care of it. With my opened decks, they'll be "just like new" because I played with them a couple times and I'm not reckless with handling cards.

Earlier decks didn't have cello on them so if the tuck and all the cards are there and not damaged, it'll sell.

Not sure, if this was information shared previously but Lotrek replied to one of my comments on his Patron page that a new Blue Damask will be coming out this year.

Yes but what you didn't realise is that Lotrek is from the future and by "this year" he meant 2030 :D :D :D
