This Kickstarter endeavors to fund a project that faithfully reprints Martinka and Company's illusionist's catalog from 1899. The aim is for a print run of 150.
Rare and fragile, the "End of Century Edition" has over 630 woodcut/plate illustrations and over 940 product descriptions dripping of the Gothic and Victorian Eras. And has been out of print for 120 years.
Everything a magician needed to enter the trade and prosper in it is here; illusion cabinets, automatons, mysterious skulls and skeletons, magic wands and snakes, phantasmagorias, event posters, and much more.
Both the front and back covers and all pages were scanned at 600 dpi as TIF files and carefully Photoshopped to remove soiling and damage and to correct the skew of all the pages.
It is already 99% complete and will be around 250 pages with an introduction.
