Interesting... I've played this game before but I couldn't imagine playing it with a color-less deck. I'm sure over time I'd be more custom to the suits like in a "standard" deck but this is like the same problem some decks have when the suit colors blend together. It makes it harder if not impossible to play the game.

In concept, I really like what he's doing with taking old decks and revising them, but I don't like blacked out decks in general and even less for something like this. I also have wanted to get a proper Scopa deck for a while and have some on my wishlist at Amazon, but sadly this isn't the one for me. I assumed maybe I would still do it with an EB, but $6 shipping to US means a $12 EB price and $14 regular for an MPC deck. Way too much. Full proven decks that are full color are much less than this as well.

I'm thinking it might be tough to fund this project with those costs, but good luck. Hoping his other projects have more appeal to me.

EDIT - he did confirm he will be correcting mistake of not having discounts for ordering multiple decks, but I think shipping is still too high for a single. Might be better once corrected for multiples though.

I think the appeal of an Italian deck will be pretty limited to most unfortunately.

Agreed. Even with a low goal, I predict this will likely have a hard time funding.
It would take a deck with some spectacular art to get me to buy a 40 card deck, and this just ain't that.

Thanks for posting about my campaign! I know that the deck is very non-traditional, both in card count and looks, but this is something that you don't find with this type of deck anywhere. This is a first of its kind. I really like the black decks and I wanted to do something different with the classic Napoletane cards to spice them up.

Unfortunately, I couldn't choose the shipping price. MPC has that set in stone. I did mess up the initial shipping cost for multiple decks but it has been updated with the correct price for all but the 2x tier. But, I will be refunding the difference for that tier once the campaign is complete.

Apparently this is relaunching with a new name (Ombre Oscure) and unknown other changes on April 9.

Unknown changes? Look at the picture. Clearly he changed the cards into regular poker cards instead of being Italian faces.

roryrezzelle - You need to change your 2nd picture. It shows your old deck without the indices. I think people might get confused. I thought your deck might be more interesting if you kept the old suits, but you did get it right with Spade = Sword, Hearts = Cups, Diamonds = Coin, and Club = Club or Chicken Drumstick.

Alright, I think it is a good deck. Because of the tuck case and back. It is not a traditional deck. Awesome.

The campaign will have both decks available as rewards, one with the indices and pips and one without. I have a title under the picture that says it's the Standard deck (no pips or indices).

I did a little editing so you can't see the old box. That should make it less confusing.

Since I've met my goal, I'm working on a couple of stretch goals. The first one (to be reached if we make USD$3000) will be a third deck. This will be a white deck so as to offset the black one. It will only be available in the Francese style.

Did anybody get this yet? On June 18 he posted that decks were received and had to mail out, along with lots of photos, but still nothing 6 weeks later.

EDIT - Got a response, apparently he's having to eat some costs in shipping so it's taking longer to smooth out the costs or something. Costs per deck should have been high enough, but that goal did seem a little low. Hopefully he can sell some direct after and get it back.

He posted an update today that he got some of the orders out however the majority of them still need to go out because he failed to properly calculate shipping costs beforehand. How many times do we have to go through this? Not sure i'll back another one of his as mistakes like this are largely avoidable and pretty inexcusable imo.

Well so far he claims he had the decks on June 18, he's posted updates saying he's still shipping, posted an update claiming he screwed up on shipping costs (go figure), and despite all of this I am yet to see any backers that have received their decks. Won't backing anymore of his projects.

I don't know i'm still waiting and he didn't respond to my last message on Facebook. Seems like a nice guy in over his head, which applies to a lot of Kickstarter creators. But so far he has failed to deliver anything. Even if he is shipping himself it would only take a couple of months with just a package a day. Don't know if i'll ever see my deck.

Well look what showed up today. One of the worst packaged decks I've gotten, but at least he kind of tried by crumpling up 2 pieces paper inside. Luckily only 2 corners were slightly dinged. Should have used bubble envelopes. The sad thing is he said he didn't have money to ship, then proceeds to send using priority box mail at $5.25 when bubble wrap would have been cheaper even with the cost of the envelopes and protected the decks better. I feel bad for the buy since he's had to do it out of pocket, but a good lesson to those without a proper business and cost plan.

You can certainly tell it's an MPC deck, which means the tuck is very difficult to open and as usual I ended up scratching the tuck trying to open it, made worse by the black finish that is way too sensitive to nails. The cards themselves are the usual new MPC quality, so adequate and that's it. The overall design and look I'm still fairly happy with, even with the long wait and in my greatly reduced collection rate. For the price I would still probably get it again now despite the issues, although I'm sure he now wishes he had charged more or at least used better shipping or fulfillment center.

Anyhow, it was finally delivered and I added to P52 - http://www.portfolio52.com/node/79269. I'll hold off adding the standard deck in case somebody who gets it can scan and add, otherwise I can add using the advanced renders later.
