Nicolai Aaroe's House of the Seven Gables are exquisite poker playing cards, inspired by the Turner-Ingersoll Mansion, a seven gabled mansion in Salem, Massachusetts, belonging to Hawthorne's cousin Susanna Ingersoll, as well as ancestors of Hawthorne who had played a part in the Salem Witch Trials of 1692. The legend follows a New England family and their ancestral home. The project, also inspired by the work of H. P. Lovecraft, explores themes of guilt, retribution, and atonement, and colors the tale with suggestions of the supernatural and witchcraft.
In Norse mythology, Odin is not an omniscient god; in fact, he sought for "KNOWLEDGE" and "WISDOM" at all time. He sacrificed an eye in the the Well of Urd for Wisdom and even took the initiative to suffer by hanging himself on the tree for 9 days and 9 nights to reveal the true meaning of runes. His pair of ravens - Huginn and Muninn - did not only act as a messenger bringing information and knowledge to Odin, they were part of Odin.
