Re: The "Hey, look what I added to my collection!" thread

I haven't posted much lately but, I had to show off my latest. My daughter and son-in-law recently went to Japan and brought me Snoopy Museum decks. You can not get in the Museum shop without a ticket and even then you can not make a purchase without showing your receipt at the register. They were ...

Thanks ecNate and RSLancastr. Damn, I thought it would be worth more than I paid... Oh well, maybe someday if I just keep it sealed :D What I learned the hard way with Baseball cards in the late 80's and 90's is that any collectibles worth, from Baseball cards to coins to Playing cards, has a lot m...

Hope springs eternal, Rap! ;)

BTW, what's with the all the Sierra Madre love? Did you grow up there? and/or are you living there now? I grew up in Baldwin Park. CA, not far from there. I've driven through it many, many times, but don't recall much about it, sorry.

Re: The "Hey, look what I added to my collection!" thread

A quick question about my purchace from ebay about 15 minutes ago. Soooo... I just bought an offical, sealed deck of Jurassic Park Playing Cards, printed by USPCC in 1993. Anyone here that owns one? Are they rare? I have never seen one, and it is printed in 1993 by USPCC, so one would think them to...

Apple Computers deck

Hey, all! Some time ago (maybe a year or more ago), I posted somewhere on this forum about a deck in my collection which was an Apple Computers deck, in which the four suits were four of the icons used in the Mac OS (I think that one of them was the trashcan, but am not sure). After I made that post...

Nice haul! Back when I was ambulatory, I used to look for decks in Goodwill stores, but almost NEVER found decks them in which I was interested. Maybe I'll take a trip down to Corvallis! :)

I just logged on to share the sad news of Tom's passing if it wasn't already known here. Instead, a few thoughts about the Dawson: Through Tom and Judy's work in "52+Joker" and their taking on the daunting responsibility of maintaining the "Hochman's Encyclopedia of American Playing C...

Re: The "Hey, look what I added to my collection!" thread

I believe that the one on the left is one of the two or three decks which I purchased when my first wife and I attended the Olympics in Los Angeles in 1982 (or was it 1984?). Olympics in Atlanta was 1996 - my mom lives there at the time. As I said above, I CAN'T GET THE IMAGE TO ENLARGE, so I could...

Good to see you posting, MJF! I hope that your new priorities bring you as much (or more!) joy as your collection of playing card decks has. Best of luck in this new chapter of your life. Re: The "Hey, look what I added to my collection!" thread

I think that the named color should reflect the card back rather than the tuck.

Regardless f that, what does the USPCC Call the color, in adverts/catalogs? I would think that THAT, whatever it is, is how it should be referred to both here and in the database.

Do we determine which they are (Blue or Black) based on the color of the card back, or of the tuck?

Re: The "Hey, look what I added to my collection!" thread

Some Congress sets. The top I got on Etsy for $8. The bottom set is from my local thrift store. I paid $1 for them. They are complete and in good condition. Nice backs, but I stopped buying Congress decks once I realized that they all have standard courts. This deck, also from the thrift store was ...

Well, that works against you psychologically, but I understand why you want to bid in that situation. Just don't go to the "I've got to have it" route. Back in "the olden days" (~1996), Stuart Kaplan (co-founder of U.S. Games Systems, and author of the Encyclopedia of Tarot book...

Re: Okay, 'fess up!!

Actually knowing who is bidding against you does not affect in any way the outcome of the auction. But if I see a friend from here bidding against me on an item, I might let him or her have the auction. No need to drive up a price by 20% just to try and win it Back when I was first on eBay - 1996 o...
